So i recently played a game of Team Arena where one of the players ended with a score of -3. This made me mad and basically ticked me off because I’m trying to climb out of gold for just a little bit and taste the air a bit higher up. Afterwards this self admitted “smurf” sent me some messages.

We started a 1v1 which I quit because the match was on his/her terms with no radar and basically after 3 kills he/she didn’t move from the power weapon in the middle of the map and he/she also had a monopoly on the active camouflage. It was a custom game on their terms. I probably shouldn’t have quit. I admit that. I will rise to the challenge again. I’d like radar though. Never been good at SWAT.
My question is this: Should players like me (gold league strugglers) have to put up with smurf accounts screwing up our games by either losing on purpose or winning by such a margin that the game is unenjoyable? Do these smurf accounts need to be penalised more harshly?
If the answer is that I’m wrong then I guess I’ll stick to Warzone Firefight.
If the community crucifies me then so be it.
I would remove the link as naming and shaming isn’t allowed. or cover his name with black paint or w/e

I’d just report the dude’s messages and move on. Smurf accounts suck, but they are better than deranking was back in the day. I wouldn’t be opposed to a one gold account per person rule, but I don’t think there is anyway to enforce it.

Ok so clearly you did something to attract his attention. What did you say to him before he sent that initial message? You said you were “ticked” then you got the messages.

The guy hosted the game, and probably cheated with custom powerweapon/powerup times

I said I’d never seen anyone end with a score of negative 3 and got mad about their continued suicides

Yup. I walked right into it alright. From now on I just play free for all if I don’t want lousy random team mates AND I don’t respond to abusive messages

I’d disagree. Your post doesn’t add to the discussion about smurf accounts. Most players seem relaxed towards the issue so I’m guessing it’s now part of the culture and I should be quiet about it

If I’d encountered his initial behaviour in SWAT then I’d agree. He was hosting a game and I knew after 3 kills he’d stacked the settings in his favour.
Given I am a gold smurf but I don’t go ham and ruin the game or try to loose on purpose. I just get my daily win and leave. Those who sit there and purposely try to inflate their meaningless k/d stat need only to marinate in their own ignorance.
That guy was salty af. Looked at you’re recent games and saw the match. I’d quit too since he had to rely on a power up just to fight you.
