They take so long because of a multitude of reasons.
From staffing shortages to bugs that need fixing; there are more important things to be fixed first.
And as for the jetpack, I think that would be a bad thing. The Grappleshot allows you to ascend really quickly. If they were to add another tool to increase vertical mobility, I would rather it be a Jump Booster of sorts.
Basically give us a double-jump for 5 double-jumps.
Such a tool would allow for users to maintain aim on a target while getting higher up in the air, or even performing evasive maneuvers while still remaining on target by changing their trajectory with the second jump.
Also a proper progression system
sounds like titanfall or BO3 jump packs. i think the should bring jet packs back but actually let us fly with them, not like in reach where it was ungodly slow. im talking like Really Fast maybe the could add zero-g section where combat literally is all around us! i feel like halo really should do more outer space fighting.
Unfortunately, 343 can’t just snap these things into existence. Even if they have ground work done, they still have to do bug testing (see the “Bonobo” incident for what happens when they don’t check stuff).
Bungie’s Halo trilogy already found and established what was needed to maintain a healthy population + workable Halo systems. Surely it needs more refinement due to the coming of new technology since Bungie’s departure but it definitely did not need a complete overhaul into some “new” Halo system. This new system 343 created was obviously and blatantly done in a way to push more cosmetic sales in the store by splitting up the previous systems that existed in Halo titles before and then selling it back to players piece by piece in Infinite. Even cosmetics that were given for free in previous titles are recycled and resold in the store. Maybe 343 doesn’t know what to do and the executives will always win over there because none of the employees are passionate about Halo anymore.
They don’t even know what to argue with the executives about. The stories they tell in the games aren’t that interesting so the executives are starting to see the only selling point of the games is the in-game store aspect of the multiplayer. I mean, aren’t the 343 employees mostly contracted workers that don’t even play Halo? Veteran and Head employees leaving regularly, constantly short staffed, non-connecting stories even after several retcons over multiple major releases, inconsistent systems and game mechanics with missing features. Oof. Bugs and priority lists aren’t even the biggest problem anymore, 343 can’t even keep employees in their building(s)… Looks like a lot more waiting for anyone who is a fan of Halo games.
Because they’re not big enough to just snap their fingers and magically have all of this come into existing.
They also tend to be very picky on how things are done, wanting things to work juuuuuust right.
Considering how broken this game is, I don’t think that’s the reason
Broken game is broken.
I’m not saying what feels just right to most people. It’s more like what they view is the right way to do things. This is one thing Bungie and 343i seemingly always seems to do in their games.
