Topic title says it all. How do you play and if you have a group of friends you regularly party up with/play competitively with, what roll do you fill in the group?
I play commando style and fill the roll of “point man” for my team. I play with three of my real life friends: Satchel (my spotter), Jeff (our jack-of-all-trades) and Sean (our sniper). When I say “commando style”, I mean that I rarely stick with my team and just prowl the maps waiting to go -Yoink- on unsuspecting fools. I’ll go in with my AR or DMR and get the flank, take a lift to ambush the enemy team from above, etc. When we’re playing against another party, I stop going commando (as it gets me kills but also gets me killed - I mainly play commando to create opportunities for my teammates to capitalize on) and start playing “point man”, meaning I’ll always be ahead of everyone else and engaging the enemy first. Satchel is my “spotter” - he sits a few feet behind me picking people off with the DMR/BR as I engage them. Jeff is our “main engager”, as in he’s the one who goes to the obvious conflict points and fights from there so me and Satchel can flank and so on. Sean is our resident sniper/long range fighter. He gets precision weapons and picks people off from all angles and covers us as we do battle.
So guys, what’s your playstyle and how does it fit into your team, if you play with one?
I’m generally an aggressor/multi target engager. I’ve found that the carbine is the best option when it comes to dealing the most damage to as many people as I can as quickly as possible. Add that to the disorienting effect of being hammered with green pellets and i can do some serious work. I work best whenever I’m able to utilize my mobility (speed boost ftw) and a moderate amount of cover. Ideally I’ll survive encounters with more than one person with at least one kill and another pinned down, but if I bite the dust, I can generally expect to see an assist pop up afterwards, which is fine with me. So far I’ve killed more than I’ve died with a carbine so I’m not complaining. I’ll mix it up accordingly if things change.
Outside of this I’m a jack of all trades kinda guy. Always a beast with the gauss turret though.
That is the word for it. I’m not always the best player on my team, but I’m always a problem for your team. You may kill me, but I cost you something in return. Every time. Kill me quick or avoid me - otherwise I’mma bug the hell out of you.
I play a lot of ARTS/MOBA games (Dota 2, Leauge of Legends, Heroes of Newerth). Support is a role in the game that helps your team gain things like vision on the map. They tend not to get a lot of kills, but a lot of assists and tend to get picked on. With that being said you can’t expect to win a game without a support. I’m not the best shooter out of my group of friends, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help them out. My load out usually looks like this:
Primary: DMR
Secondary: Pistol
Grenade: Pulse
Armor Ability: Regen Field
Tactical Package: AA Efficacy
Support Package: Dexterity
Pulse to deny my opponents space, pin down enemy players or help with an escape. Regen Field for those long corridor battles, and AA efficacy to keep it up regularly. I plan on going Engineer to get the ordnance drop Support Package.
I can’t always win duels, but I’m sure as hell gonna make sure my friends and team mates do.
My role is mostly to be always the first to attack and make the enemies move/distract for all my teammates. Sadly this tactic goes -Yoink- when the players near you are camping or hiding instead of attacking from another point while I’m in the middle of the fight.
btw, the first strike is always mine
With the team either going for the objectives or sponging the incoming fire from vehicles and/or snipers (basically running around like headless chickens), i’m the guy who finds his way around and takes out that SOB.
If im playing with friends I try to keep them up to date with all the business I can see thats happening, whilst kicking butt and taking names of course, and keeping an eye on where the teams new spawn point will be.
Battle Rifle with the Assault Rifle for good measure.
I play like lonewolve wondering if my team will be good or not, my friends are all playing that stupid game called Call Of Duty. I first go for sniper, and if I don’t get it I don’t care, I use DMR as main weapon and Lightrifle as secondary, I aim for head all times and almost always get on top positions by the end of the game.
Kinda miss having some non-noob friends playing H4.
