Now that Halo 4 is out, we’ve been able to play with our own unlocks instead of just speculate. We went into the game intending to go with what worked before, experimented, died to some guy with another loadout, and tried to figure out if what he was using was cheap or not. Hell, maybe you’ve even found something that you’re pretty sure that it works, three days after the launch of Halo 4.
So, I ask you, Waypoint, what is your main loadout, so far? Throw in armor combos if you want, too.
Just realized I forgot to put my own in there, /bump
This one is mostly cir Dominion, since most of the combat is indoors or at mid range in or around the bases
AR
Magnum
Frag, but thinking of switching to Pulse if in gives me more room to run away and use my AA, which is…
Regen Field or Promnight Vision.
AA Efficiency, which is manditory if I want to use Regen often with its really long recharge time.
Ammo or Explosives.
I use this one with Dominion as well, or BTB with PP and Sprint.
Carbine
AR with FP or Boltshot/PP with Sprint
Frag, going to go with Plasma for vehicles.
Hardlight or Promnight. Regen if I use AA Efficiency with no AR or Carbine combo.
Sprint, FP or AAE
Explosives or Ammo.
Ragnarok, Meltdown & Exile (big maps, long sigthlines, many vehicles):
DMR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenades
Regeneration Field
Shielding
Ammo
Longbow & Vortex (big maps, some big vehicles, but sightlines fit more for BR):
BR
Plasma Pistol
Plasma Grenades
Regeneration Field
Shielding
Ammo
Complex (I camp the big roof a lot when it supports the gametype, and DMR is a beast for camping on it. When I’m not on the roof, sightlines are more appropriate for BR):
BR
DMR
Frag Grenades
Regeneration Field
Firepower
Ammo
Abandon, Adrift, Haven & Solace (extremely close quarters, jetpack-friendly):
BR
Assault Rifle
Frag Grenades
Jetpack
Firepower (having these two weapons are the absolute best option on these maps, at least until I unlock the 5th slot and can make a BR/magnum class for Haven)
Dexterity (both the weapon swap speed and reload speed are insanely good for close quarters)
Slayer K/D is 2.25. I play mostly CTF, plus a good chunk of Dominion and BTS, some flood, and occasionally KOTH or oddball. Pretty happy about my KD in co-junction with a 1.0 W/L ratio in CTF, 2.1 W/L ratio in Slayer and about 1.2 W/L ratio in dominion. 4 win 0 loss in oddball, 2.2 W/L in KOTH, 12.0 W/L in Flood.
PV is second only to jetpack. A legal wallhack and the ability to lolpack at any concept of map control is hilarious (in how absurd their effectiveness is), there really is no reason whatsoever to pick any AA over these two. They are well above and beyond the usefulness of the other AA’s.
Might get the firepower package and swap Boltshot for the AR, though that one-shot kill is satisfying.
