The gameplay plays sort of like a weird hybrid between Halo 3 and Halo 5.

Desync, no collision, broken melees really hurt the overall gameplay but I do think the gameplay itself is amazing.

Edit: The skillgap is sllightly lower than Halo 5, really difficult to master weapons, advanced movement but not quite as nuts as Halo 5’s was, just a really fun and wholesome Halo experience honestly.

Just gameplay? Like movement, gunplay, aiming, abilities, etc?

I love it. It’s my favorite halo to play MP in since Halo Reach (though granted this was more for customizing my spartan lol) and before that Halo 2.

Guns feel great and most are well balanced. It’s a blast to play. (aside from the grenade spam, where everyone’s grenades but mine do damage :P)

Things I think need to be addressed, most of which aren’t necessarily gameplay things:

  • Spawns need adjusting
  • Needs More Maps for both 4v4 and BTB
  • Needs More Guns (from old games or new variants of old guns)
  • Needs Forge Mode
  • The Battle Pass needs to include more unlocks for FTP players (I bought the battle pass and I’m annoyed FOR them lmao)
  • Customization needs to not be locked to a single armor core. (I’d like to use a couple of the colors I unlocked in campaign on my Mark V armor but can’t as they are only usable on the trash default core)

but just as far as the playing the MP and slaying, I love the game.

It feels great love to play it but to me it got kind of stale after a while

It’s superb, the BEST since H3 by a Longshot! Makes Halo 5 look like trash. Just needs 10,000% more content!

Hydra and Ravager YE$. AR hard NO!!! It’s perfect as is, the best one in the series LEAVE it alone!!!

Putting coding, desync, and gouging aside? I feel the needler, banshee and wraith are the worst they’ve been in mp history. Banshee is at a disadvantage always flying forward, banshee bomb rarely kills, seen more people splattered by both vehicles then shot to death. The needler feels so out of place now, I don’t know if its the sync issue or what but even if the enemy doesn’t turn around you can end up dumping the whole mag and not even 3/4ths the needles keep up. They track well but feel underwhelming.

Ravager feels so out of place in mp, Id rather have a bruteshot back or cindershot. The aoe is easily avoidable, doesn’t charge fast enough to make it matter when you do shoot etc.

Shield wall is a joke, if deployed early it can be a decent recon or navigation shield but it deploys to slow, falls to fast, has a weakness that others don’t have. Rather have a bubble shield that can be overloaded by electric weapons, repulsed by repulser or jackal shield.

Cammando feels good but not there, in close range it’s poor, long range beaten by br or pistol in right hands. It feels like the dmr with less punch for waaay more speed. Rather zoom have dmr punch unzoomed automatic but less damage as it has now. But thats an opinion.

Vehicles feel off, weaker then normal be it from flipping so much or normal guns hitting so much harder. Jumping feels off, like you float more then clear distance when jumping. Descent feels like it takes forever for something so heavy.

I could go on, lots of room for tweaking and improvment though.

Overall, I like it. I’ve been missing a modern arena shooter, and this fits really well. I think the main thing is that desync and disabled collisions makes CQB feel pretty bad. Any time I get into close quarters, I feel like I’m in a benny hill style run-off.

It’s ok, but far from my favorite. The lack of player collision, poor weapon balance, equipment, outline system, lackluster weapon sandbox, poor vehicle implementation, and poor net code all diminish my enjoyment with the core gameplay. I would put infinite in the middle of the series in terms of gameplay.

H2>H5>H3>Infinite>Reach>CE>H4

Honestly, no one would be complaining about the store if all the original Halo armor that existed in the other Halo’s just came with the base F2P game. Maybe even excluding MCC content. All armor that existed in 3, and some reach, should have been free unlockable with the game. At this point I just think people are resentful.

Game sucks real bad.

Aiming is inconsistent, melee hit detection is trash, player collision being absent and inconsistent with enemies leads to annoying results.

  • Strafing looks janky, unnatural and lacks momentum and inertia which In turn messes with the barely existentent aim assist.
  • Grenade physics are all over the place. The damage is inconsistent as HELL. The only grenades I bother using are dynamos.
  • spawns are generally bad.
  • Hit detection is so off at times.
  • Vehicles handle bad, as well as the CRAZY acceleration on startup.
  • Vehicle collison be it teammates or enemies are just straight up bad.
  • The WORST weapon Selection of any Halo I have played. Would kill to have the Spartan Laser, Railgun, Bruteshot, DMR AND THE CARBINE back. The weapon sandbox is so lifeless and the small amount of weapons we have gets it old quick. At least the BR is better than ever but thats it.

Miscellaneous things like the visuals in explosions and gunfire arent that…well good and kinda dulls the gameplay and hype/funny moments that would feel more chaotic and crazy if they were just better.

Gameplay wise, I’d put Infinite tied in last place woth Halo 5 for me. Everything from the gunplay feeling clunky to the maps lacking any kind of flow, the poor vehicle implementation, the friend or foe system, the constant AI chatter etc. I know the game has gotten people who have never played Halo before to try the franchise which is fine, but I worry that if this is what their initial experience with Halo is that they don’t have an accurate sense for the identity of the series.

When it works it’s great. This game though is unbearable with a ping of 70+ which is most of my games.

This is the first time I’ve ever had this kind of issue with halo or a shooter.

It’s fine, but really wished they got rid of the advanced movement mechanics (sprint, clamber) and just upped movement speed. Gameplay for me in Infinite is a 6/10 (disregarding connection, desync issues, etc.).

I think my opinion is going to be very similar to what others have said.

I think the game plays pretty well. It is more classic and I like it much more than Halo 5. That being said the game just falls so short. Glaring technical issues like the shot registration make it difficult to enjoy this game. You really do feel like you’re playing Halo 3 quite a bit of the time. The shot registration is even worse in LAN play, if you can believe that. Customs is really messed up, saving variants doesn’t work, it wipes your settings every few games, etc, etc… All this is stacked on top of a lack of content. I was in the flights and was already bored of this game at the second flight.

I think the gameplay is good and follows a more classic formula, but there’s just so many other issues that drag the game down and make it hard for me to enjoy. If back in 2012 343 had led with a game that had similar gameplay to Infinite, I think they would have been in a much better position with the community.

Gameplay itself is some of the best. I wouldn’t change a thing other than Battle Rifle spawns. Oh, and change the commando back to the way it was in the alpha. Or at least useful
