Whats your favorate 3v3 party leader combo and why

I like double covy / one unsc ( double arby anders ), because this combo is strong early to mid game, and can win games earlier instead of late game.

What about you ?

Definitely Forge Cutter Arby. Many players prefer to have 2 covenant and and Anders, but there is so much flexibility in this combo. You have the threat of an amazing cheese strategy with two base-killing UNSC powers plus the Arbiter grunts, and you have the pressure of hogs and an Arbiter for the 5 minute mark to gain base control and maintain hog lead. If you can stack all of your efforts into stopping the enemy UNSC double bases using hogs and Arbiter while securing a base for your Forge, you have the game in the bag. It’s also decent on Exile because Forge gets a safe back base and Cutter can grab the difficult to defend front base no problem, leaving the mid-level base open for a Cutter triple base for guass hogs or a quick expansion if a Forge base goes down. This strategy requires a lot of communication, because it’s imperative that the Arbiter leader stays alive and his base doesn’t get wrecked from a double covy rush. Double covy strategies are easier to run because everybody has a really obvious job, but I like this one the most.

I like to do a pure UNSC v Covenant because (for me at least) I get these big epic engagements going, where all six armies are fighting each other and once, and the chaos is unreal. You don’t know if you are going to come out on top or not, and I’ve had a lot of intense moments as the UNSC and Covenant alike during these massive engagements. Sometimes winning closely, and sometimes losing horribly, its a lot of fun seeing which armies can beat who (Unfortunately most of the time I have to play as Anders because her A.I. in my case is extremely passive. For me, its the moments like these that I enjoy, but I will try some more mixed battles in the future.

Same as above, because covenant doesn’t have spartans

I think the strongest combo in the game (in terms of overall effectiveness) would have to be Double Arby Forge. Having a strong early rush and being able to rage everything down is absolutely destructive. Money isn’t an issue as Forge can feed you, and you can mix things up and go warthogs or even straight into tanks as Forge.

My second favorite would have to be Arby Cutter Anders. That combo has a million different strategies in its flexible arsenal. You can do anything and make it effective

It brings back wonderful memories to hear this. For the first half of my Halo Wars career I would have backed you up 100%. I can’t speak for the first year of the game because I was so trash I had no idea of what was good or not, but by 2010 the best combo in 3v3 party was widely believe to be what you’ve said, Double Arby Forge. I remember a thread I saw in 2011 (probably from the long extinct Lazyfrog.us website) that had a controversial poll about which combo was better to queue in 3v3’s, either Double Arby Forge or the unstoppable Exile combo: Double Brute Cutter. This combo ravaged the game for many years.

By the time 2013 rolled around, it was discovered that at the highest level of play an Anders was better than a Forge on Frozen Valley and Exile, because even against a team packing Double Arbiters you could keep your warthogs alive and apply more map pressure with Anders that Forge could ever dream of. This required extreme communication of where each enemy Arbiter was at every second of the game. If you couldn’t see one of the Arbiters, he was probably on his way to slice and dice your hog army. Forge was still slightly better on Fort Deen (debatable, some would disagree) because of his powerful double base potential but the power of Anders was something that, once mastered, felt so oppressive many of your opponents would simply adopt your strategy. 2013 was the year of Double Arby Anders.

Toward the end of 2013, the 3v3 metagame approached its final stage, after which there would be little to no adaptation at all. The reaction to the ubiquity of Anders was the addition of the Brute to most 3’s teams in place of one of the Arbiters. A Brute can rush an Anders as easily as he can a covenant due to her weak supply pads and base. This sacrifice little in terms of offensive rushing power, and each team still had the double covenant to switch into banshees and the Arbiter to stop full-on gauss strategies. If you were to search out teams in 3v3 party with a TrueSkill of 43 or higher today, I believe over half of those teams would be playing Arby Brute Anders.

Double Arby and anders, two arbiters and hogs put on huge pressure in early game, and hunter/vamps from the arbiters along with tanks from anders in mid to late game, wins almost every time
