What's wrong with this Fan community?

Not much actually, you’re an alright group of people.

However…
I must point this one thing out: You guys predicatably complain about Reach. Or Reach, whatever you want to call it.

So why am I writing this out in the Halo 4 category? Just continue reading and you’ll see.

After a little game called Halo CE came out, expecations for Halo 2 were going through the roof. You’d think people were awaiting the second coming and not the second game. Anyways, when that game did arrive people were like “hell yeah, this is awesome!” while others (typically the more vocal of fans) were like “wtf is this? Screw it, I want my CE back!”

Halo 2, for a long time, was considered an ‘ok’ game, but not as good as CE.

Continue on to the launch of Halo 3 and the same thing happens! People are like “hell yeah, this is awesome!” while others are like “wtf is this? Screw it, I want my Halo 2 back!!”

And Halo 3 is both hated and loved, while everyone moans about it not being like Halo 2. All I would hear was “Why couldn’t it be more like Halo 2 or CE?” or “Bungie really screwed up with this one!” and of course “wtf is equipment!”

And so comes out Halo Reach and people are like “hell yeah! This is awesome!” while, of course, the vocal group of haters continue their rant: “wtf is this? Screw it, I want my Halo 3 back!” And all I hear about is the ‘glory days’ of Halo CE, 2 and 3.

Granted, Reach had its problems. But then again so did CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3. They were all a mixture of bad, terrible, amazing and good.

So now Halo 4 is coming out and people are expecting it to be ‘perfect’. Well I have news for you guys. It’s not going to be perfect. In fact alot of you are going to hate it and point out problems and remember the ‘good-old days’ of Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 and yes, Halo Reach.

So what is the point of all this? Stop comparing the damn games people! Enjoy each one for what it is, expect problems, expect parts that you’re not going to like and above all expect it to be DIFFERENT than the other games.

Just had to say this.

I agree with you. It’s just a loud minority that complain.

How can you enjoy a game that isn’t even remotely fun?

Yep. That’s the cycle.

Pretty pathetic, on the community’s part, when you think about it.

I successfully broke that cycle, though, so, I’m happy!

It’s a cycle. Having been around forums since the release of Halo 2, you constantly see the hype/changes and build up that people hope make the cut for the game. Once 343 actually start revealing gameplay for Halo 4, expect it to perk up and people will already start making false assumptions that they have no proof for.

Rinse and repeat until release. It’s really that simple.

I think Halo 4 will be different but I have no opinion on 343i because they have never made a Halo game before.

CEA was like “putting a fresh coat of paint on an old house and maybe adding a new sink or a new garden”.

Now imagine this cycle happening every year. That’s what Call of Duty fans are like.

This is also why I don’t want a beta. People didn’t really complain about the Reach beta because they were having to much fun. When the full game came out, then the complaining poured in.

Lets say I want to buy a new car. I read up on how the car looks, reviews, and looked at it’s specs. Before I buy the car though, I want to test drive it, check out the engine, etc.

I want to test out Halo 4

> This is also why I don’t want a beta. People didn’t really complain about the Reach beta because they were having to much fun. When the full game came out, then the complaining poured in.

The complaining would’ve been even worse if the beta hadn’t ironed out a majority of the kinks and bugs. That is what a beta is for, testing the game. I’m sorry you guys treat it like a glorified beta, but that isn’t justification to not have one.

To be fair, Reach isn’t awful. I have had fun in it, but on the whole it is my least favourite Halo game.

But when Halo 4 comes out I will not be clambering for the good old days of Reach. Trust me. I would be surprised if anyone is. So I reckon this cycle may break.

But, Halo 4 may be the best yet!

Agreed. I want a beta as well, even if that means complaints will pour in with the fully released game.

Many people (including myself) have already attempted to elucidate this pattern in the minds of others; further repetition really isn’t necessary. I am, however, curious as to the meaning of one part of your post:

> You guys predicatably complain about Reach. Or Reach, whatever you want to call it.

I see no difference between the two titles.

I guess we can just remember this when the complaining starts

Wait what?? When I posted this I put "complain abot Reach. Or Reach

Not too sure what happened there…

I still don’t get it.

-Yoink!-! It did it again. what I said was "complain about Reach or (lol)-Reach

> I guess we can just remember this when the complaining starts

I don’t think the game has changed, just the people. The Halo 3 community was SO different than the Reach community. Many people on this site have PROBABLY NEVER played Halo CE (the original one, no the remake) or Halo 2.

I have noticed we are getting people who want ideals conflicting about what Halo is about like killstreaks and other things that copy other major FPS shooters.

You are seriously asking Halo fans to stop comparing Halo games? That is not only unrealistic, it’s highly illogical. People SHOULD compare games. If someone had more fun on Halo 3 than on Halo: Reach then 343 should be made aware of that so mistakes are not repeated. That way, more people will enjoy their future games.

No offense, OP, but your post was nothing more than another anti-complaining thread that gets a lot of praise because many folks are tired of the complaints. My argument is that the complaints are a good thing and I am actually impressed with the Halo community and their vocal unity in letting Bungie and 343 know that certain features in Reach are completely detrimental to Halo’s gameplay.
