Just look at them. Why are they all fat and rounded? Why do they hover over your shoulder like that instead of being firmly attached to the armor? What did 343i do to them? They didn’t look anything like that in Halo 2 or Halo 3. What possible reason could they have for changing them?
I like most of the Helmets and Chest peices in this game, 343 did a good job with that part. It’s the shoulders I dislike in this game. As you said, it honestly does look like the Mark VI Shoulers are sort of hovering on the spartan instead of looking as if it is fully attached to the armor. This goes with all the shoulder peices in Halo 4 imo, I really don’t like them too much. I thought reach had the best customization options so far, in terms of the armor you could choose and how it looked.

No, actually. I was trying to edit my original post but I accidentally clicked quote and just ended up quoting myself lol.
actually, they have an arm band attached to the character that can be seen from their back.
Its why they look elevated. As for the shape, I guess it is to make it fit the character and not clip through the body in all animations, while making it look like it can protect the shoulder when wielding a weapon
The Mark VI doesn’t even look good imo. I hated MC’s armor change in Halo 2 and 3. I loved the Mark V and kind of hoped it’d be in 4…
TO be honest most of the shoulders in this game look “stuck on”.
