I guess , just like halo and cod they both probably couldn’t come up with a good halo tag line so they did infinite cause they so much types of the game
Except the flagship exploratory carrier in the UNSC fleet that’s been featured in two straight games is called The Infinity.

I like it. I also liked “Halo 5: Guardians” too though. Obviously the “Guardian” part of the title was significant to the story. Hopefully “Infinite” will also be explained in the campaign, or it could be a reference to the UNSC Infinity as wholikeschicken pointed out. It has been a major reference point the past two games.
I really doubt they saw COD’s or BioShock’s title and wanted to copy them lol I’m sure there’s meaning behind not just a random word, we’ll have to wait and see what it is.
It should be called Halo 6 since it is in fact the continuation from Halo 5.
Not sure why infinite specifically but they did say they wanted to move away from using numbers so the series doesnt feel like it’s getting old, in case you’re wondering why it isnt called halo 6. That’s also why halo 5 is called halo 5 guardians, they wanted to try and open us up to the idea of named games which probably would’ve worked better if it had a good campaign.

And if they really want Infinite in the title then make it Halo 6: Infinite. Either way Infinite is a lame title in my opinion.

Agreed, Halo: Reach, Halo 3: ODST. ITS A CLUE!!
They wanted to get away from H6, H7, Halo 15, etc.

It comes as a bummer to me. I was genuinely looking forward to typing H6 as an acronym (but I don’t think this is going to stop me). I find it irrationally annoying when games break away from their naming precedents.

First of all, it was CoD: Infinite WARFARE, get your facts straight before you claim such nonsense
second, it was mentioned by 343 already years ago, that they intended to leave the numbers behind,
because it simply didn’t fit anymore in their concept since they also some years ago already,
changed their trilogy into a saga, which means there could come several sequels with various themes.
it definitely makes much more sense that way, IMO

It’s just a generic and lazy subtitle meant to appeal safely to as many people as possible, Halo Infinite, Bioshock Infinite, CoD Infinite, etc…
Kind of like how the main character in the main Halo series’ name is John 117, the main character in Halo Wars’ name is John Forge, and both of the main characters in CoD Modern Warfare’s names are John McTavish and John Price.

Those were just examples lol. Halo should of probably stopped at 3. Hopefully H6 can recapture the good old days.

Why would this be the last title in Microsoft’s flagship console selling IP?
The Halo universe has a lot of potential for games, not only within the FPS genre.

Btw it’s Halo 5**:** Guardians since you want to be technical. Back on topic… there’s a 5 before the subtitle. The topic or post is about there not being a 6 in the new title.
i think they mentioned that they want to go away from numbered titels. even that h5g wasn’t meant to be named halo 5 guardians and instead it was meant to be only halo guardians, but they added the 5 to smooth over the transition.
about infinite: thats one of the lazyest names at this point. it should sound “cool”, but it is so overused and it is saying absolutly nothing, so i think it’s a hillarious titel and i switch between laughing at it and sometimes it just cost me a little smile. (kind of remembers me a bit of the stances spartans did in the h5 beta before and after the game. they looked like what 15 year old boys would think is cool, where it was only embarresing)
