This has probably been asked, but I’m asking again to reinforce the point.
What the hell is with the jock-like bro-down at the end of every multiplayer match? In all honestly, these “Spartans” seem more like frat-kids than saviours of the world. Is 343 seriously expecting me to believe these high-fives and “come at me bro” poses are entertaining? Maybe there’s a button to “slap -Yoink-” or towel whip?
I may be alone on this, but this (IMO) is NOT how a Spartan should act.
I must ask… So NOW we’re all professional, stoic killers??
Those same wise-cracking ODST’s, Marines and Troopers are now SIV’s… Of course there’s going to be some showmanship and boasting during a “sports” competition.
What I’d like is some sort of thought out organic attitude system where the actions can influenced by “attitude” and “preferred” actions.
Attitude would would be how the avatar carries itself in general. If we are to consider the Ninja Turtles as 4 archetypes;
Leo: Carries themselves tall but not overly. A neutral stance and walk that shows humility and respect. He would often (but not always) stand like Leonidas while the others would carry themselves as the will.
Raph: Carries themselves overtly. Stand and moves with an intended imposing posture. Can influence the actions of others… If MVP.
Mikey: Carries themselves loosely. Every move has a fluid but care-free bounce to it. Does a lot of the initiating.
Donnie: Carries themselves humbly but cautiously. Not cowardly… There’s so much going on inside Donnie’s head that they need to constantly scan the surroundings. It shows off as fidgety and responsive.
Preferred actions would be the moves one would show off if they were the lead Spartan/MVP of the team. Due to attitude, there would be a shared and exclusive movelist to each attitude BUT due to the interactions of attitudes of different players and who is MVP, everyone can do a variant of a move with their flare/attitude.
It all depends on whose in the mix. If there’s 4 Mikeys that just won, it could very well look like a very cocky and playful intro and victory romp. If it’s 3 Leos and a Raph, Raph might never influence anyone’s move when winning… Unless it’s of a more respectful form.
It’s a very superficial system but it can lead to part of that “je ne sais quoi” that often makes games special.

I have to agree. Not much personality should be shown. Spartans are like Law Enforcement and should act like it too. Go about business professionally.
It makes sense in terms of canon. These are Spartan Iv’s. Normal people from other branches of military that are now spartans.
But so what? It’s stupid and I hate it.
I hope it leaves or, at the very least, we get to pick our animation. My Spartan would NEVER fist bump. I’d want my Spartan to look at the other Spartans being bro’s all over each other and just facepalm.
Guys, this is 343’s vision of how the next game in the largest franchise ever on xbox is supposed to be. Stop criticizing them. Everything they do is perfect. I personally can’t wait for DLC to get extra poses.

/sarcasm, Lol nice.
I agree with OP, it is completely ridiculous. ODST’s and Marines being wise @sses in battle is a normal coping mechanism in soldiers, lightening the situation. However, Spartan IV’s and even ODST’s are the elite of the elite troops, the toughest and most talented soldiers the UNSC has to offer. They would be professional, not idiot Jocks.
It has been addressed by the devs, and it had been said they will be toning it down. Not sure how much though.
Regardless, unless the war games portion is elaborated on in some sort of cutscene, I doubt most players will understand, and thus feel somewhat off put by it.
I like my spartans of the II variety - calm, collected, and stoic. I’m all for the custom pose option if it doesn’t mean cutting time on the gameplay itself

agreed but 343 wants halo to be a generic dude bro twitch shooter ala call of duty, they want to change halop from its arena/tactical shooter roots and make it a complete twitch shooter with no skill and very low time to kill!

This guy gets it.
It fits into the canon. As many have stated, the humans beneath the armor are Marines and ODST’s and normal humans. Look at Locke, he is the perfect example. In nightfall he is just a soldier, but somehow by H5 he is a Spartan IV. I don’t really mind the animation it seems like fun to me. Never really payed much attention to it after the first few times. Was always very embarrassing when you lost and the victory bro-time only showed three spartans.

So they can’t be professional on the battlefield where it actually counts and yet not be super serious in a simulation which amounts to a live-action video game for them?
They should show the losing team crying or getting mad at each other, then it would be awesome…
No, but seriously, I hate it, regardless if they’re not true silent Spartans trained from a young age, it’s just annoying and makes you shake your head. If anything, they should take a page out of what Far Cry 3 and KillZone did- postgame executions or humiliations.

In short, no. They cannot. War games isn’t a sport, it is a military training program and these guys are supposed to be professionals. They act like amateurs that scored a touchdown, it is ridiculous no matter how much your try and belittle how the vast majority of the forum goers feels about it cobra.

These are not your momma’s Spartan-II’s or to a lesser extent your Spartan III’s, these men and women are Spartan-IV’s, pulled from the veteran ODST’s, Marines, and enlisted men and women from the Human-Covenant War.
They are for all intents and purposes, frat-bro’s. That’s just how Marines are, they aren’t children who were psychologically and physically broken and rebuilt to be the ultimate legendary warriors, they are just average men and women who were just good enough to be given the opportunity to have the name of legends attached to their title.
They aren’t saviors of the world, never really were.
Not to mention that these multiplayer games are “War Games” which are essentially training sessions or sport to these dudes, camaraderie is common amongst soldiers when their team succeeds.

Yeah, because the action of -Yoinking!- someone’s dead corpse was totally shoved in our faces as much as it was with this -Yoink-.
Could you imagine if every time we got a kill our player was forced to hump the enemies dead corpse? At least what we had before was the player’s choice to be an idiot and not some animation that’s clearly a scripted, fake disposition…
