2nd: On the case for Halo: 4 on amazon.com, Chief has new armor. If he’s floating out in space, where did he get it?

In a nutshell, The UNSC are on there way to find/bring MC the MK VII armor.
MK 7 Armor was made before the end of halo 3 some Spartans 2 were outfitted with the armor. Frank said they will explain it in the start of the game.
That armor in the TEASER trailer isn’t final. That’s just something to show you that the Chief’s armor will, indeed, be changing.

Both went through Slipspace–Chief got diverted.
The trailer is noncanonical, that isn’t Chief’s final armor interation, it will be explained in game.
That’s just a teaser trailer. I’m sure he’ll pick up the new armor in the first act of the game.
The whole ship went through the Portal, but someone or something changed its destination for Master Chief’s half of the ship.
Also, he didn’t get his new armour on the ship, I’m guessing the first few missions will have John with regular armour Mk 6, but when the UNSC come they will probably also deliver John Mk 7.
I don’t understand how in Halo 2 we got brand new armor, completely upgraded from Mark V, then go to Halo 3 in the same armor, picking up directly where Halo 2 left off. Then before the end of Halo 3, there’s brand new armor that turns out to be infinitely better than Mark VI. How are they developing so fast? Why did they release Mark VI when Mark VII technology was so close to being finished?

Its a video game. You’re overthinking things. 343 probably didn’t want to be stuck with Mk. VI that Bungie left them with so they made Mk. VII to better fit the game.

Yes its a video game, but its also a universe with characters, dates, and events. Things need to make sense.

Glasslands clearly states that nano-tech in cryo can upgrade their armor.

Yes
The Chief will be getting new armor in Halo 4. When he wakes from cyro, he will be in his mk. VI, like at the end of Halo 3 (the announcement trailer is non-canon, so ignore it), but will receive a new suit sometime during the game. The UNSC is a major force in Halo 4, so it’s most likely the chief will be wearing Mk. VII armor that he receives from the UNSC.
