so many people are so quick to accept speculation as fact right now, and not even just the ones that promote their hopes for halo infinite. we’ve got people, out of no where, claiming infinite is open world, then we’ve got how many overly confident 343 is going all the way back to classic mechanics (which at least these guys have some reason to believe it because of the old style but wow you guys are so confident), and back to the people who believe random made up ideas with no evidence and then get mad about. I’ve come across some one (not on waypoint) who was extremely ticked off at 343 for “throwing away halo 5’s story” like dude, nothing has been said about the story where are these accusations coming from? I mean there’s nothing wrong with speculation but I’ve seen so many treat it as fact.
and then there’s the people yelling out stuff like “it isn’t as good as halo 3, it isn’t a good game”, where to begin with that awful statement. first of all, do you just pick a favorite game an claim no other game is a good game because it isn’t that specific game? secondly, again we haven’t seen anything. how do you have such a strong opinion on a game before seeing any gameplay or story?
hey 343, when are we getting some more news so that speculation and theories start to make sense again?
People like to imagine. But it does become a problem when imaginations run wild and people start to believe in what they imagine.
People are projecting with Halo Infinite. Some are projecting what they want the game to be; others are projecting their own personal issues with 343i onto it. You can’t really stop people from doing this. All we can do is be level-headed ourselves and take the teaser at face value, neither letting our expectations get too high or too low based off what little we’ve seen. That, and wait for more info.
I do often worry that overhyping a game before it’s out is dangerous for the game and the industry as a whole. Hopefully not too many people will have unmeetable expectations for Halo Infinite by the time it comes out. Similarly, hopefully people don’t just write it off without knowing more about it.
Peolle are hyped in positive and negative ways for Halo Infinite. Here’s to 343 supplementing original art style with the original gameplay.
Speculation is fine, it’s when speculation becomes expectation that things become problematic.
I don’t like it when people claim things to be true, but I think theorising is ok, as it is simply the suggestion of a possibility, where then others in a thread can discuss the rationality of the idea. Guessing what the new Halo game may have in store for you as a player in just part of the speculation, fun and joy one gets by relating back to previous Halo experiences, besides if we knew most of the answers, or simply just waited until we had enough information to draw a definitive conclusion, less people would be discussing the games possibilities as there would now be only one possibility to discuss. Speculation gets people thinking and talking about the game, and undoubtedly what 343I wants to see, as it shows them people are genuinely showing interest in their Saga. However that being said, claiming facts based on personal beliefs like Chimera30 says, can be dangerous for a game and its community.
It’s just like people saying that this next Halo will roll out for the next gen system when it clearly states Xbox One and Windows 10.
I don’t see many jumping to conclusions, it’s more of what they want/hope Infinite is going to be. All we can do is speculate. I really hope it’s not open world. I don’t see Halo working as an open world game. There is nothing wrong with Halo being a linear mission style game as far as mechanics it doesn’t matter to me as I am a good enough gamer to be able to enjoy it either way. I hope it’s modern mechanics with a playlist or two that has the classic mechanics, best of both worlds.
I told myself at one point that I would avoid the H6 hype train so I wouldn’t be disappointed when the game doesn’t live up to everyone’s expectations, but then I saw this vague trailer for Halo Infinite, and I just spazzed out with anticipation.
When I watched the entirety of the trailer, the first thing that came into my mind was that classic movement mechanics would return, so I rushed to create a thread on this site proclaiming how this amazing thing will be in the game. Luckily, a moderator snapped me out of my unfounded belief, my excitement died down, and I edited the thread to not sound like the return of classic movement was an absolute fact.
I finally understand how excited and overhyped people can get during E3, since I was one of those people for an hour before I regained my bearings. It was fortunate that my surge of excitement died down quicker than most. I won’t make any more unfair assumptions from this point forward, so I won’t be disappointed with the final product.
People are passionate about Halo. I love Halo. The Lore, the universe, everything. I found myself getting really bent out of shape during HW2 DLC fiasco. I just needed to step back and realize it’s going to be great, just not perfect.
Honestly, I remember this happening with every sequel as far back as Halo 2. The problem with us fans (and I’m guilty of this as well) is that we totally armchair quarterback the games and come up with our own predictions (which is totally fine) but then we take these predictions too far and turn them into serious expectations that the devs just don’t have the time or resources to properly and reasonably implement.

Word.
Yup it’s pretty annoying when people come to conclusions because they see one aspect of the game and can’t control their imaginations. They’re just setting themselves up for possible disappointment and you just know they’re gonna go crazy when they realize something isn’t what they thought even though they only have themselves to blame.
