What's with all the hate for halo 4?!

I don’t get it. So many people that I know hate halo 4(especially Spartan ops). I personally thought it was a great game! Though the campaign wasn’t as good as halo anniversary’s, in all I thought 343 did an amazing job!

Did you play anything pre-Reach? Or, heck, Reach, even?

(<mark>This is from one of my previous posts from another thread, this will show you why i dislike halo 4.</mark>)

Played halo since day 1 of Halo ce release. Halo 4 in my opinion is the worst one in the franchise.

Theater is nothing less than a downgraded version of what is was in previous games. Cant view campaign clips, cant view spartan ops clips, can watch saved clips with multiple people(bungie started this with reach but 343 continued with it in halo 4)

Forge is also a downgrade. They removed precision editing, added magnets which don’t always work, generating lighting which also doesn’t work all the time, the forge maps were poor at launch. To 343’s credit they did at forge island but that doesn’t fix broken or missing forging mechanics.

Custom games were practically neutered. So many popular game types are missing and when you throw in the fact that the basic editing options for gametypes are missing it makes it nearly impossible to recreate previous custom games. Just visit the Custom games are unacceptable 343 thread, it explains all the custom games problems very well.

Campaign is probably the only shining point to halo 4. The overall story was great and was truly enjoyable however the campaign was extremely short(4hrs), nearly all the new characters were not done well(palmer, del-rio, latsky, didact). Also the campaign was extremely linear, previous halo games gave you a little room to explore and i feel there was nothing like this in halo 4. Lastly there were numerous plot holes, although most of the plot holes were filled in by the terminal videos, none of the terminal videos played in game.

Spartan ops should not of replaced firefight. I believe that spartan ops is a worthy addition to the halo franchise and could of been there along side firefight but the very fact that they removed another worthy addition to the halo franchise(firefight) to add spartan ops makes me very upset. Also many of the spartan ops missions were repetitive and rehashed maps from the campaign and multiplayer. The story for spartan ops was ok but nothing fantastic.

Multiplayer in my opinion is nothing more than a codified, unbalanced mess. The multiplayer doesn’t play like halo in my opinion and seemed like there was no effort given in trying to make it an original experience. There is no classic playlist, no skilled based ranking system in-game, jip is horrible, horrible maps, the dlc maps were obviously made before the game came out and should of been included with the game, the perks and armor abilities need to be balanced, the weapons are still horribly unbalanced( I know there is a weapon balancing update coming), vehicles are practically useless.

And what i believe is the worst aspect of halo 4 multiplayer are the ordnance drops(point streaks). Ordnance drops just need to go period, having random weapons fall from the sky when someone gets enough points is just annoying. Its not fair that when i do very well i get a needler but someone who is clearly doing worse than me gets rewarded with an incineration cannon. I cannot tell you the amount of games that i have lost because me and my team were given saws and needlers while the enemy was given snipers and incineration cannons. Multiplayer is more luck based than skilled based.

I would give halo 4 a 6/10. Halo 5 needs to hit the ball out of park.

Especially with how the next Xbox is turning out. Never again will I buy a game before watching actual post-release footage of everything in and about it, and ESPECIALLY not if it means I have to get a DRM console with a camera that literally spies on you 24/7, that you have no choice of leaving out. Call me paranoid, but that’s some Big Brother stuff right there.

If I’m going to have to give up any notion I ever had of privacy, it had better be for something AMAZING.

Me and my friends are still undecided about the new xbox. We are going to wait and see if Microsoft can address some of the concerns we are having. If they don’t than we agreed to move to the ps4.

Why do people dislike Spartan Ops?

  1. “Eggheads”
  2. “Bad Guys”
  3. Every other Palmer line
  4. You just killed 20 enemies? Here’s 30 more to keep you occupied!
  5. You pushed a button, fight all these prometheans with binary rifles!
  6. Push this button, and fight 20 more!
  7. Having fun yet? No! Well push this button and fight fuel rod elites and sword elites who camp your spawn!
  8. You want it to be at least slightly competitive by having a death limit? Nope, everyone can die unlimited times! Try to have fun competing with your friends, because it’s impossible to do!

No playable Sangheili automatically make multiplayer a 2/10 for me.

Here’s some of its features (PG-13 language ahead), from a comedy website no less, just in case you missed anything.

This is Microsoft. They’re not going to. Well, not before release, at least.
Ever, if it ends up selling well enough.

It’s why they unveiled a whole bunch of new exclusive games for it: To try to get people to buy it anyway.

It strays away from what made the other Halo games fun and fantastic. In Halo 4, features like Custom Games was completely downgraded with very few customization options.

It creates a very odd formula that original Halo players dislike.

The story was uninspiring.
The campaign was underwhelming.
Spartan Ops is repetitively boring.
and multiplayer lacks a local only search option so there’s no reason for anybody outside the US to play the game.

halo 4 is my favorite game and always will be til halo 5 comes out dont be hatin

> halo 4 is my favorite game and always will be til halo 5 comes out dont be hatin

That’s what I’m talking about! Go halo 4!

Halo 4 is amazing, probubly my second favorite Halo game.

> Halo 4 is amazing, probubly my second favorite Halo game.

And your most favorite Halo is Spartan Ops, I guess?
Played any of the former Halos?

Honestly, 343 made some good steps, trying to actually introduce new things to Halo. After more than a decade, you can expect some new features, I think.
Problem is, much of the new stuff was stolen from other franchises and don’t fit well, and most importantly:

There should have been a Beta!
Seriously!

So, yeah. Basically, it sucks.
Which breaks my heart, since I put much, much hope in 343 adding cool new features, but it turned out, they were integrated badly.
A real shame.

First, every one has their own opinion, so heres mine.

I think that Halo4 is a fun game. I enjoy playing online, playing campaign, and playing spartan ops. But, off course each game had its ups and downs. Although 343 took a different approach on the halo Saga, they also added their own good elements such as being able to get loadouts and sprinting. So, most of you say it takes away from halo, but don’t you just go for the BR or the DMR anyway? And really, sprint default was at least better then sprint armor ability. However, the CSR system failed, and the custom games just aren’t the same. I know all of you say its not good, then why do you keep playing just to say what you don’t like. How about this instead, why don’t you say what you LIKE about the game, come on don’t say noting, because why would you still be playing. For those of you who call it “Codish”. Halo was Before Call of Duty, and Call of duty really copied them.

My opinion, feel free to judge but this is my opinion.

Ummm… Halo 4 is my second favorite Halo game now (Halo 2 is number one, Halo 3 is now number three with Halo 4’s weapon update, and Reach is at the very bottom). I’ve played all the Halo games, and yes, I’m serious that Halo 4 is my second favorite Halo game.

  1. I’ll never understand why this is annoying, but whatever.
  2. So?
  3. People hate her. I like her. Opinions are opinions.
  4. Sounds like Firefight…
  5. You just finished a wave, here’s a horde of Skirmishers and Brute Chieftains with some Elite Ultras!
  6. Finished another wave, so now fight more enemies!
  7. Having fun yet? No! Well, complete this wave and fight hordes of enemies that rush right outside of your spawn and we’ll have them all spam Plasma Grenades!
  8. Both have a kill score, so I don’t see the “competitive” issue there.

See where I’m getting at?

  1. Are we 6?
  2. Are we 6?
  3. Are we 6?
  4. I never mentioned firefight!
  5. See above.
  6. See above.
  7. There aren’t skulls for Spartan Ops? How sad (also, see above).
  8. If you can’t fail, what’s the point of even trying (both Spartan Ops and Firefight have AFKers because of this)?

I really enjoyed the campaign and War Game’s, and find Spartan Ops
fun.

I’ve Enjoyed all the Halo game’s, and Halo 4 is currently one of my
favorite’s.

I don’t hate Halo 4… I just love it so little that I no longer play…
