Recently, and even more so after last night’s hunt the truth, people have been speculating that this “evil Chief” is John’s flash clone replacement who somehow survived after all of this time. First of all, it’s been pretty much confirmed that John’s clone died. 343 might create some excuse for how he somehow survived but I doubt that they are even going down this route. Second, Chief’s flash clone wouldn’t just be a second Master Chief. He wouldn’t get the training, augmentations or MJOLNIR armor that John got and if they wanted to frame the Master Chief, they could get anybody to suit up as a fake Chief since no one sees his face. I’m not trying to bash these theories but they’re a bit ridiculous. I feel like it would be a really dumb and cheesy direction for 343 to take and I know they’re smarter than that. I won’t definitively say it’s not gonna happen but it seems pretty ridiculous.
I know. They don’t make any sense, and even if it turns out to be true, it would be such a terrible plot that I might not even buy Halo 5. Seriously, living clones???

343 would have to WANT Halo to die if they decided to go with the whole “Aha! It was Chief’s evil twin the entire time mwahaha!”
It’s literally taking one of the worst ideas of, now non-canon, Star Wars, using Luke’s severed hand to make an evil clone named Luuke (seriously) and pretty much applying the same logic to Chief. Should we call him Johnn now to denote his evilness?

That sounds more like the plot of a Marvel/DC arc, so I have faith that they’ll not go that route.

The -Yoink- is this? What -Yoink- writer created this? (And thank god that’s not canon)

As do I. 343 knows how to write a good story

It is, see Spider-Man’s Clone Saga. Nobody liked it.

Nooo, please don’t speak of the expanded Starwars universe. Luuke, a horse driving an xwing, Chewbacca getting crushed by a moon, please no…

Oh god that sounds so bad… Don’t think Halo would ever go down that route and definitely not in a core Halo game
Maybe they enjoy watching you get all butthurt over it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (At least I do…)
What’s the reason any fan theories get made before a major Halo title releases? I guarantee it’s the exact same reason…
It’s because Halo 5’s plot HASN’T BEEN REVEALED. If the Didact was composed and Cortana can survive longer than any smart A.I. despite halving her own lifespan by taking in so much Forerunner intel in Halo’s control room, then changing up a single Spartan clone backstory isn’t exactly far out of reach, now is it? Goes to show, I would think, that 343 can do whatever they darn well please with Halo’s story if they see fit. Just because there are concrete reasons that something shouldn’t happen in Halo doesn’t mean they won’t happen. These laws do not apply to fiction.
I personally don’t understand why it’s necessary to call people out just because they entertain something you don’t… Maybe, people HAVE seen a good clone story or two… Maybe people just like entertaining it happening? Why do you care?

Woah, whoah, woah I’m not attacking anyone. All I meant by my thread was that there are some pretty major things that I feel people are overlooking when they automatically assume that “evil Chief” is his flash clone. I’m in no way saying that they’re all wrong and I’m right. I’m just stating that I don’t feel that 343 would do this, that’s all. And you’re absolutely right that anything can happen when dealing with fiction but something like this seems a bit… Out there?

Hey, people are free to come up with any fan theory they want. However, that doesn’t mean criticism won’t be experienced. I mean, if people insist on calling them theories, then testing them is just something that is going to come naturally. If people want to believe Chief has an evil clone, more power to them. That isn’t going to stop anybody who thinks it is silly and illogical to not say anything.
Want to know whats dumber? The “When will Master Chief die/Master chief will die” threads.

I think this is something we can all agree on.

Here’s a idea:
This human race are know an advanced civilization, may even had the technology to create several Spartan clones since they would have improved their ability to make improved clones of their originals. ONI could have easily lied about the clones death by spreading false rumours within the leaks to add to confusion. 2ndly there’s no way to tell how many clones of John they have made, even if the original clone died then there’s no reason to say they didn’t try to make another with a quick growth like the ‘Clones’ in SW. There’s no reason why he couldn’t get the same training if he was cloned from the older John with altered memories that were scanned. As for the armour…ONI have the spec’s so they have the blueprints to duplicate the armour if they really wanted to.
It’s not ridiculous if you had an open mind to the situation since there are plenty of unknown factors.
I think the main barrier to Chief having an evil clone is the fact that the clones quickly became ill. I know there are clones who lived but from what I can tell about the clones Halsey used is that even those who did live past 6 where certainly not in any good physical condition. Even if the chiefs clone had lived past 6 it would probably have trouble walking, storming an embassy would be out of the question. As for claims technology may have improved, I admit its possible, however, seeing as Halsey caused a big ethical debate within ONI, coupled with what happened to Halsey, I don’t think anyone would be interested in using clones again.
