What's up with the Sniper rifle?

Something still feels off with the aim on the sniper rifle. I can’t put my finger on it but something is different. Am I just doing something wrong or is it broken?

Also why is it so strong against vehicles in Halo Infinite? It has always been weak against vehicles in previous games. It isn’t like we need more anti-vehicle weapons, especially with how weak they made the vehicles.

Less aim assist compared to previous halos, making people realise they (I) were actually useless at aiming/sniping, whip shots more difficult, no scopes more difficult. The way a snipe should be! (Although, increasing scoped sensitivity can help).

Strong against vehicles is the vehicles fault not the snipe. A gust of wind is enough to kill a banshee.

I splattered two people with it, then it blew up and I ‘self-destructed’. They didn’t fire a single shot at me, it was just the splatter impact. It’s pathetic. They definitely didn’t fire a shot at it or they would’ve got the kill.

Not that I disagree with vehicles being weak (except ghost which is GOD tier for some reason), but it wasn’t just the splatter impact. They don’t really indicate this in any way, but the banshee takes damage from basically touching anything. So hitting the ground/rocks/walls/etc while trying to splatter people damage it. It’s meant to stay in the air.

Less aim assist?
So I’m just not as good as I thought I was :sob:

That’s probably at least part of it , although it feels like more than that… Like maybe something is different with hit registration or something.

Also, the vehicles are a little ridiculous. I can’t splatter a Warthog with the Chopper anymore. But if that Warthog splatters a couple Spartans, it’s blowing up on its own. Ugh.

I noticed this in the wasp when I was trying to land on the ground. The wasp went into self-destruct mode when I touched the ground.

This may be more realistic but seems dumb and punishing from a gameplay perspective.

For me I can’t hit anything with the sniper unless I use the scope. Then its like night and day and I pop headshots left and right.

Infinite’s sniper is harder to use than previous halos, but there is also something wrong with the sniper when you scope in. It messes with your aim. It’s easier to hit no scopes with the sniper than to scope in.

As far as I am concerned, there’s nothing wrong with it, I’ve always been useless and couldn’t hit the broad side of a scorpion anyway!

They also just completely ruined the Sniper by removing the physical bullets which no longer ricochet off of walls for cool trick shots and sniping around corners and off ceilings. All the hit registration is practically fake server side checks, which get ignored and despawn when you die. Weapons and grenades are all basically phantom objects. If you just meant the aiming is harder, no bullet magnetism on snipers. I prefer all my precision weapons no scoped in this game.

Well that’s interesting @mr_fobs thinks it works better scoped in and @knick93 thinks it works better no scoping.

I wonder if you are playing with different inputs?

Is this different than previous Halo games?

Yes I’m aware it’s meant to stay in the air, however it’s meant to stay in the air so you can use the weapons, as the weapons are weaker than the gust of wind that can destroy it, I needed to splatter them.

I did not hit the ground. I got in, I splattered them at their head height, they died, I died. There was no contact with anything else … other than the deadly wind.

Well, maybe just a 343 thing. In Bungie games, you could watch bullets bounce off walls. Even the Infinite Needler doesn’t bounce off walls anymore. Also I miss out on tons of From The Grave medals because my grenade, hammer, or bullets just despawn when I die in Infinite. Completely ignored from the client. Server ping ruins hit calculation registration.

I play with controller on xbox one s. A friend of mine plays mnk and also mentioned having a hard time with the sniper scoped in.

Yeah I’ve mostly been a Halo 3 player and I know this made for some fun theater clips of exciting kills.

I play m&kb on PC. I tried controller and the aim assist was so strong it felt like I was cheating so I switched back lol

Gotta tell that to controller users that completely deny having it, suggesting they need aim assist to get a huge buff. With a mouse, if you’re off by a pixel, your sniper misses

Wow this is interesting because I play with controller on Xbox and I was going to say that I thought it almost seemed easier to aim the sniper no scope just like what @knick93 said. Hmmm…

Hahaha… I’m not really looking for a M/K vs controller debate.

My philosophy is play with what you like. Learning the differences helps make you better at whichever you prefer.

I personally use all precision weapons no scope on kbm too, just because being scoped in messes me up somehow. I have no problem landing hits no scope, especially with a Skewer, within reasonable distance anyway
