What's up with the characters in this game?!?

The Didact wasn’t developed on at all, he seems like he’s just pissed about a 10,000 year old war like seriously get over it. It’s been that long and your still holding a damn grudge? Jeez, I wouldn’t want to piss off that guy.
Me: “Hey man, can I borrow your screwdriver?”
Didact: “Yes, but you must bring it back to me later”
Me: “Thanks”
A few years later
Didact smashes through the front of my house
Didact: “YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST -Yoinking!- BORROW MY SCREW DRIVER AND NOT GIVE IT BACK, I WILL USE MY -Yoinking!- COMPOSER TO -Yoink- UP YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!”
Me: “HOLY -Yoink- DUDE THAT WAS 5 YEARS AGO”

And artisticly he looks like a stupid alien vampire, I just don’t understand some of the artistic decisions. Or the captain of the Infinity Del Rio, the way he acted was extremely irrational, and the game gave no reason as to why, the whole Earth was on the line and he didn’t give a -Yoink-, he just wanted to be a giant c**t for no reason.

Standing at the infinity water cooler
Me: “Hello commander! Theres some major weak points in the hull around sector d8, I’ll need some supplies to fix it, or we might all be killed.”
Rio: “WHAT DO YOU WANT -Yoink-?!?! ARREST THIS MAN -Yoinking!- ARREST HIM!!”
Me: “What the heck?!?!?”
Rio: “BLEAFW(HROIAEFHO GGAAAAAAAHHH!!!”
throws boiling jug of water at me flailing his arms about
Me: “AAAAHHHH WHAT THE -Yoink- PJAFWFWAIH!?!?!”
Rio: “AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!”
Rio continues by repeatively slapping me in the face
Two spartan guards near by look at eachother “Meh”

Most of the characters are annoying as -Yoink- in this game, like that one -Yoink- in spartan ops that keeps calling scientists ‘egg heads’, it’s -Yoinking!- stupid and only makes me want to punch my -Yoinking!- screen. Bch, if it wasn’t for those ‘egg heads’ you wouldn’t be in a -Yoinking!- power suit that saves your un-diciplined a, and I bet you’d be cowering in fear without being an egotistical, leetist, -Yoink- on a power trip if you didn’t have that armour.

None of the spartans have any disipline, and they are standard -Yoink- characters. The games story, characters, and character design choices make me want to break my xbox. I understand though, 343 is trying to make spartans more human, but damn, you don’t have to make them all giant cts. Maybe one of them, since there’s always that one a hole…

But its kindof hilarious when you look at it that way though.

Because a borrowed screwdriver is comparable to the loss of billions of lives right?

> Because a borrowed screwdriver is comparable to the loss of billions of lives right?

It’s the same logic. You do something to someone a long time ago, and you choose to not forget it and exact revenge. As time goes on the trivialness of the incident increases. So 10,000 years ago, yes it is comparable to a borrowed screwdriver.

I believe the books delve in to the Didacts story quite a bit, and while some may not enjoy reading, there’s always the terminals.

Also, Del Rio served as the guy who just didn’t like the Master Chief, I swear, the Chief got scolded just for asking for recon, poor Chief.

Yeh, I’d hate a 7 foot tall super soldier that saved humanities -Yoink-, and the whole galaxy, including mine several times.

…no

Most of the Didact’s development came to life within the terminals. In the actual campaign he’s just the role of the genocidal villain. Del Rio was probably never meant to be a main developed character, he only seemed to be in the game for a brief period of time. Not every character in the game needs to be super in-depth, especially when it’s mainly about Cortana and the Chief.

OK, so because there was a war between a few tribes in Africa 30,000 years ago, and the tribes still exist today and know about the war (but the tribes now became two large cities), that means they they would try to kill eachother now because of all the lost lives back then. See what I mean? Time makes things trivial.

You probably don’t know much about logic, and can’t see how it can be transfered to other things.

I feel like Palmer is like that because 343i is tired of -Yoink- girls in video games, so 343i tries to make Palmer all tough. In theory, it seems fine. However, it was executed extremely poorly and Palmer turned out to be a stupid little -Yoink-.

If I met her in real life, I’d punch the -Yoink- in the face without hesitation. I just want a scientist or Dr Hansley to stand up to her and say “without me you’d be nothing” and put her back in her place.

His intro was badass though.

By the way, Palmer pulls a gun on Halsey. Seriously. Watch episode 5.

The attack on his planet no longer had much meaning after he first used the Composer to turn some of the humans into Prometheans.

It’s not the attack that is causing his hatred, but it is what started it. He believes Humanity is not good or smart enough to be the dominant species of the galaxy, and all the stuff that comes with it.

Hatred isn’t the sole issue. It’s just his belief that drives him at that point in the story.

This is what happens when you put together angry ignorant teenagers, and complex sophisticated storylines.

Aw God Palmer is the worst. She’s like “ok Crimson today you’re gonna rescue some egg head computer nerd science dorks so I can give them a wedgie”.

I wish she’d just shut up. I hope she dies at some point.

And yeah, I’m the only one out of my friends who has read the Forerunner books and I’m also the only one that understood anything about who or what the Didact was/is. Most of my friends just found the plot severely under-explained.

That’s a stupid belief. Humans developed FTL travel and etc… And humans showed they are good enough to be the dominant species. The covenant found their technology by accident as far as I remember. Humans developed almost all of their own technology, still winning a war in which they were out numbered and lacking in technology. Humans won the war, they deserve the mantle now. They survived, and the forerunners didnt. If anything, the forerunners don’t deserve the responsibility.

If 343 are getting us to develope a hate for this character for a reason, they must be creating a fullfilling scene to be in Halo 5 in which you get to shoot her in the face. But they are probably not. I want to see Palmer die a long and miserable death, then I want pull her back out of hell to kill her again.

I know plenty about logic, your false assumptions says alot about your “logic”. I’m aware of the examples that you are attempting to make, in an effort to prove a point, but according to you, any example that has no clear and resemblance to the point in hand other than a very vague similarity is considered logic. For example, in an effort to describe your war between African tribes 30 centuries ago as a similarity to the human - forerunner war. First of all, the Didact was involved directly within the Human-Forerunner war and was directly affected by it, are you seriously implying that a 30,000 year old african tribe member is alive to carry on the battle?
The Didact is beyond angry, not only at humanity, but at the librarian as well. The librarian attacked him, sealed him away, and fired the Halo rings, leaving him the only living things in the universe, because she rightfully believed the Humans had the right to take on the mantle of responsibility. The didact, heavily disagreed, with the ancient humans attacking his people first, attempting to cleanse the planet and take on the mantle for themselves. He firmly believes the forerunners are the more dominant race and in an attempt to revitalize the forerunner line, wipe the galaxy clean of the biggest threat to forerunners in the first place, which is humanity. If you think about it from the Didacts POV, he wants to preserve the forerunner legacy bring them back into fruition, and the direct competition to the forerunners is humanity itself. Naturally, to grow in a competitive environment, you need to eliminate the competition.

Logic? I have plenty, trying to compare 2 heavily differentiating circumstances in a fictional universe because of vague similarities? That’s not logic

> This is what happens when you put together angry ignorant teenagers, and complex sophisticated storylines.

It’s about as complex as a straight line. Your the angry ignorant teenager if you believe otherwise, that would mean your capacity for what is a good story is very low and blatantly evident.

Tell that to the Didact.
