whats up with the banning?

you need to read all of it to understand (I’m not trying gloat btw)

i was playing slayer as i always do i was playing on the map fathom, i was on the red team, we ended up losing 36 -50 game was 8 minutes and 36 seconds, i ended the game with 9 kills, 8 deaths, 1 spread, 2 headshot and 2 assists, i sadly had to leave because i had to do chores, about 30 minutes later i got on and started another game i played slayer the map was eden, i was on blue team and we won 50 - 40 game was 8 minutes and 29 seconds long, at the end i had 10 kills, 8 deaths, 2 spreads, 1 headshot, and 7 assists. was pretty happy with my team and wanted to see how much RP i got, (the screen faded black as usual) so i started to play a game on my phone till the loading was done. when it was done loading there was a popup that said “the ban hammer strikes” underneath said you have been banned for 8:47:26.

WTF why was i banned for 8 hours 47 minutes and 26 seconds i have only been banned once before for 34 minutes but that was like a week ago, why am i being punished for playing the game. can someone explain to me how the banning system works so this doesn’t happen again please

if you still don’t believe everything i said check it yourself

According to your recent matchmaking history, you have 24 unfinished games since the beginning of the month, which likely caused your ban. Keep in mind that bans can be delayed by a game or two.

A few words of explanation:

> The game keeps track of your quits over a long period of time. Try not to quit or the bans will escalate @quinndelhoyo

> The Banhammer Strikes!
>
> It’s important to us that everyone enjoys their experiences in Arena play. To maintain the quality of the Arena experience and sanctity of competition, a number of rules are in place for all Arena playlists. Halo 5: Guardians is engineered to detect and track the following behavior:
>
>
> - Quitting matches - Betrayals or team killing - Idling (AFK) - Intentional suicides - Excessive disconnectsIf you repeatedly engage in negative behaviors such as the ones listed above, you will receive a ban and be prevented from entering matchmaking. The duration of each ban is dependent on the offense and becomes more severe with each successive infraction, so continually killing your teammates to steal the Sniper Rifle will quickly lead to long timeouts from matchmade play.

I never quit no matter how bad it’s going for me.

That said I’ve still gotten band many times because of losing connection.

I got a very good internet connection. I never even lose connection to any other game on my Xbox One or PS4. Just Halo 5.

After researching this I found in a forum that 343 suggests you set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 on your primary and 8.8.4.4 on your secondary on both your router and Xbox One network settings.

I did this yesterday and haven’t lost connection yet. I use to lose connection almost every other match.

You need to change your router and the Xbox. Changing just one doesn’t work.

Maybe that helps someone.

You are the best person to determine what’s happening. Unfinished games can include disconnecting because of problems with their servers or your network, getting kicked due to idling, booted for betraying or suicides, quitting, etc. It can be a lot of things.

You can view your game history here.

If you are having disconnect issues, try hardwired Ethernet, troubleshoot your network and post in the support forum for assistance.

Good luck.
