you need to read all of it to understand (I’m not trying gloat btw)
i was playing slayer as i always do i was playing on the map fathom, i was on the red team, we ended up losing 36 -50 game was 8 minutes and 36 seconds, i ended the game with 9 kills, 8 deaths, 1 spread, 2 headshot and 2 assists, i sadly had to leave because i had to do chores, about 30 minutes later i got on and started another game i played slayer the map was eden, i was on blue team and we won 50 - 40 game was 8 minutes and 29 seconds long, at the end i had 10 kills, 8 deaths, 2 spreads, 1 headshot, and 7 assists. was pretty happy with my team and wanted to see how much RP i got, (the screen faded black as usual) so i started to play a game on my phone till the loading was done. when it was done loading there was a popup that said “the ban hammer strikes” underneath said you have been banned for 8:47:26.
WTF why was i banned for 8 hours 47 minutes and 26 seconds i have only been banned once before for 34 minutes but that was like a week ago, why am i being punished for playing the game. can someone explain to me how the banning system works so this doesn’t happen again please
if you still don’t believe everything i said check it yourself
I never quit no matter how bad it’s going for me.
That said I’ve still gotten band many times because of losing connection.
I got a very good internet connection. I never even lose connection to any other game on my Xbox One or PS4. Just Halo 5.
After researching this I found in a forum that 343 suggests you set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 on your primary and 8.8.4.4 on your secondary on both your router and Xbox One network settings.
I did this yesterday and haven’t lost connection yet. I use to lose connection almost every other match.
You need to change your router and the Xbox. Changing just one doesn’t work.
Maybe that helps someone.

You are the best person to determine what’s happening. Unfinished games can include disconnecting because of problems with their servers or your network, getting kicked due to idling, booted for betraying or suicides, quitting, etc. It can be a lot of things.
You can view your game history here.
If you are having disconnect issues, try hardwired Ethernet, troubleshoot your network and post in the support forum for assistance.
Good luck.
