What's up with splatters?

Seriously, what the hell is going on with vehicles and splattering people with them? If I as much gently bump into one of my teammates, it’s a splatter and an instant betrayal. But if I hit an enemy in a fully boosting Ghost, he just gets bumped to the side?

Splattering people at a certain level is hard as it is, but when I run somebody over I don’t expect them to survive and even board me for -Yoink-'s sake. Any idea how frustrating it is? It’s obviously intended, because apparently the vehicles behave normally when allies are on the wrong end of them.

I have noticed the splatters being totally random in this game. It’s frustrating.

Is it even possible to splatter with the Mongoose? I’ve hit people in the wide open at full speed and the atv just gos thru them with no damage at all…

I’ve been splattered by vehicles that were barely moving, yet have run into enemies at top speed and all that happened was that they slid along the ground, then boarded me. The second is only on occasion, but the first is pretty much every time.

It is, but it’s hard given the Mongoose’s handling. If you pull it off, it’s great feeling of success though, and it’s hilarious.

On topic: I do agree that Splatter kills in this game are very… sporadic. It is notably easier to betray a team-mate by running them over than it is to road-kill an enemy.

disregard my post, it’s early and no coffee.

No, it cannot be done.

I am never lucky with Splatters… Last week I was about to get an overkill with the Banshee, because the enemies were walking in a little group. Well, I boost into them and two of them just don’t get any damage at all and they just slide a bit to the side. Then two others guys went flying through the air, but with the low fall damage they just survived the fall to the ground… -_-

Yes it is. I have [embarrassingly] been splattered by a Mongoose before.

Is this new to you?

I’ve been splattering my own team members with parked warthogs and sending enemies flying with boosting ghosts since the Halo 2 days. Wait, the Hog things since the Halo CE lan days, Ghosts couldn’t boost back then.

This is true. Sporadic splattered have been around since Halo 2. I’ve always assumed it had something to do with players having poor connections. It’s annoying, but one of those things you just sort of have to deal with.

It can only happen if you have no sheilds and the thing glitches across the map at like a billion miles per second.

Other than that it is not possible.

Well it’s Halo 4, we actually paid full retail price for a Beta. Not mutch we can do other then wait for the final product.

Nooo… I was hit by one on Longbow. It just came barreling down the hill and slammed squarely into me. I had full shields and was just trooping across the map to get into a firefight when I got hit. It was just an absolutely solid splatter kill.

You have to have good aim and an opponent who’s not paying attention, but it’s very possible.

I splattered someone with a mongoose the other day on Ragnarok. I was quite surprised.

It’s lag, plain and simple. It’s easy to splatter your teamates because they aren’t trying hard to avoid it, whereas enemies are. Even if you can’t see it on your screen, they likely jumped at the last second.

This.

Halo 2 took a controllable splatter system (it didn’t easily happen in CE. You can push with the Hog if you drive it gently. You can even use a marine gunner to clip you through a wall. In fact, most clips in CE were because the vehicle pushed you through the object) and made it abominable (often I get splattered when I flip the Spectre or Banshee and driving into Elites only damages their shield).

Halo 3 improved it significantly:

I tested Ghost and Wraith splatter on 19 Brutes. 95% of them were splattered. With the Hog, about 11. And with the Prowler, less than 7. I went under the Pelican that drops off the Scorpion and I didn’t get splattered from it landing on me. Whenever I got hit by a marine controlled Hog, I only lost my shield whereas in Halo 2, I often get splattered by the Hog drivers on Metropolis. The only times I got splattered was from Choppers, Prowlers, and boosting Ghosts. With the Wraith, it wasn’t too severe (I used to trick the AA Wraith defending the hill on The Covenant into driving off and I only lost my shield from the collision and was able to hijack it with no difficulty since it got stuck).

Then Reach ruined it. Halo 4 seems to be a mix of Halo 3 and Reach. Just earlier today on Infinity, I got hit by a Hog driver but I only lost my shield.

Just tested it, it is possible.

Perhaps it is nostalgia…but I remember always getting my Splatters in Halo 3. The only times I wouldn’t, the player would obviously be glitching and teleporting around due to poor connection.

This problem started with Reach (not just Armor Lock lol) and seems to have only gotten worse here.

Or how about you try to splatter the enemy, you hit them at full speed but then they hijack you?? Seriously? -.-
