What's Up With Perfections?

Hi guys. I promise you, this isn’t a thread to secretly gloat that I can get perfections. I don’t view it as anything that grand, all you gotta do is be a little cheap -Yoink- and exploit spots on maps with snipers. coughcough

But anyway, I noticed the game can be really inconsistent with giving you this medal. I know that host migration doesn’t affect it, but my last perfection I got was in BTB. I didn’t get 15 kills or win the match but I got it. Or another time I didn’t get 15 kills but I won. The medal description clearly says to win with 15 kills and no deaths.

Anyone know what causes the weirdness?

I’m not entirely certain what’ you’re asking. Are you inquiring as to why you got the medal when you “Technically” “didn’t deserve it?” Or what??

Lord knows, that if the game “handed” me a perfection I wouldn’t complain or ask why… :stuck_out_tongue:

Host migrations DO affect the medal since they reset your sprees.

The perfection medal isn’t awarded based on if you get a Running Riot, it’s based on 15 kills and no deaths through out the game. After host migration sprees reset, not kills. But I should take this knowledge with a grain of salt, I saw it on Halopedian, sooo…

Angel: I’m sort of inquiring why it hands me Perfection I don’t earn, and what makes it do that. Pretty much, I can not fufill the criteria for Perfection in any way besides not dying and still get the medal. I want to know why ze game does this.

Ah well, that would sound like a Programming Error/Glitch not completely sure. This would be better answered by a Game Developer :stuck_out_tongue:

I have over 100 perfections and I never play like a -Yoink- or exploit the map. I don’t even hide when 15-0

Sprees have absolutely nothing to do with perfections.

Host migrations only affect perfections because kills shortly before a host migration are lost and only count towards score and not actual kills.

> Host migrations DO affect the medal since they reset your sprees.

nope, i have 40+ perfects and ive had many without a riot due to host migration.
its 15+ kills

> all you gotta do is be a little cheap -Yoink!- and exploit spots on maps with snipers. coughcough

False.

Anyway, give me the links and I’ll tell you why you got a perfection. Sometimes it happens that a host migration removes you a point, but it keeps the kill. That means you might, for instance, have 16 kills and 15 points. In other cases, there might happen the opposite where you keep the point(s) and lose the kill(s). In other cases you even lose both the point(s) and the kill(s).

> Host migrations DO affect the medal since they reset your sprees.

Not really. As long as you have at least 15 kills it doesn’t matter what medals you earned, you’ll still get a perfection.

Sorry, I was a bit out of it last night and not thinking straight. I stand corrected.

A lot of times host migration makes you respawn. I don’t know if this effects the Perfection medal, as stats still show 15-0, but I can recall many times after a host migration I am on the respawn screen when I was happily alive before the migration.

As far as I know that happens because when you are on black screen and then the game restarts but you are still on black screen, which means the other players see you standing like an idiot, which makes you very easy to kill. When you come back from black screen and you are on the respawn screen it’s because you were killed while defenseless.

Gotcha. Guess I should have assumed this considering I have a third-world connection.

You are correct, you do not need a Running Riot to get a Perfection, so a black screen really has no effect on Perfections.

My only problems with Perfections as of late are that:

  1. You cannot earn them in Team Hotshot.
  2. I’ll earn them, but they don’t show at the end of the game. They only show in the post-game stats. I personally like being able to hear that awesome “Perfection!” at the end, so it’d be nice if it wasn’t skipped over…

I take perfections very seriously, they are by far my most favorite medal to obtain in Halo 3 / Reach so I don’t take it lightly when someone states they are cheap or ‘easy’ like comparing with a dude who uses the clearly cheap banshee to get easy kills …

So you are assuming every perfection every player has ever gotten is cheap because they must have clearly exploited something or camped with a sniper to get it? In Halo 3 and Reach combined more than 90% of my perfections are from me going rambo the entire match with only using a BR or DMR. Some of these perfections are playing at level 50 high in Ranked Team Slayer of halo 3 as well.

Perfections are epic if you actually play the game and don’t hide to just get a medal. I’ve got plenty of youtube videos and stats to prove it too =)

It’s so irritating! I should have so many Perfections, but they never, ever show up.

I’m sorry Mystical, I was referring to the way I myself get perfections. I am guilty of abusing HemoRage red wall with a sniper.

But I have got perfections camping with shotguns also.

  1. You don’t have to win to get the medal (even though the description says so).
  2. Vehicles count as kills (but not towards in game totals). You can get 10 kills and 5 vehicle kills and still get a perfection.

Natasatchaa you said in your opening post that you get them in BTB. No one has mentioned it yet but you do know that you can only get them in a Slayer game and not an objective type. Sorry if i am stating the obvious.
