What's up with Halo Infinite's control scheme?

I rewatched Halo Infinite’s gameplay trailer for, like, the fortieth time and I noticed something funny.

From the start of the gameplay at 2:10 to the point when Master Chief picks up and uses the deployable shield at 4:10, the armor abilities (grappleshot and the shield itself) are mapped to the RB button. Which is kind of weird, since in the same gameplay we see that RB also is used for reloading/venting weapons, picking up objects and interacting with objects.

But immediately after using the shield in 4:10, the button assigned for the grappleshot changes from RB to LB until the end of the trailer! See for yourself, starting around 4:00 so that you can say hi to our boy Craig.

Do you think that is a bug or a feature?

Most likely it will be something along the lines of press RB to reload, hold RB to grapplehook or deploy cover. But control schemes are easily customized

I swear to God if reload is mapped to RB and I can’t change it I will flip.

This. Also maybe they swapped it on the fly using the d-pad or something?

The most likely thing is it probably as just a UI bug and the symbols/buttons on the HUD got mixed around. It could be that RB and LB can change based on whether you are holding equipment or not. That would be a bit confusing to me though. I think they’ll most likely keep RB as a reload/interact button and have LB be for using equipment since they don’t seem to have thruster pack anymore. Again I wonder how they will handle it if you want to use grapple hook but have an equipment in campaign. I’m very certain they will have many different control schemes like they do in MCC to cater to different playstyles and whatever people are used to.Full button mapping would be an awesome feature to have along with some preset control schemes but complete button reassignment is sadly not very common on console :frowning:
