What's up with all the Reach/Halo 4 hate?

I keep reading about how Bungie killed the franchise with Halo Reach and I’ve seen a lot of disapproval of 343s decision to adopt its armor ability and sprint mechanics.

I guess I’m just curious how the armor ability mechanic made the game so horrible… I prefer playing Reach to Halo 3… The armor abilities are much better than te equipment of Halo 3 and add another dimension of how you approach a fight, save armor lock which I’m sure we can all admit is super overpowered and poorly thought out.

As for the levelling system, I can see why a 1-50 system is more attractive than reach’s credit based ranks.

I look forward to seeing armor abilities being more refined and balanced this time around now that theyve been around for a game.

Just a bunch of crybabies who can’t handle a bunch of new optional features

The guys above are correct

Bungie killed reach with bloom, armor abilities, and a bad ranked system (arena was crap). Armor abilities were unbalanced and honestly had no part in halo. If you had more fun with reach than with halo 3, you probably weren’t that great at halo 3 (no offense but generally noobs will say what you are saying)

It’s the Internet, 99% of people instinctively hate everything for the simple sake of having something to complain about…

…and the other 1% is made up of people who look at things objectively and either appreciate things, or if they don’t like something they’ll put that out there in a good way and suggest ways to improve through other means…

So yeah, good times being the 1%…

I hope

People that want the game with no changes to it which I think wont be fun if its the same game every time.

As for the halo 4 complaining tho, they’re all over reacting. we need to wait and see how the game feels and how it plays before bashing or praising it.

They can’t get off Bungie’s -Yoink-, and since 343i has control of Reach and is making Halo 4 they are going to hate on them.

Yeah Bungie made A LOT of mistakes with Reach, i had more fun with HALO 3 though i do better in Reach (i had reached level 46 in LONE WOLVES, not so bad i think)

I have no idea why people are hating on Halo 4 because we have hardly seen anything but Reach i understand it was so unbalanced and lacked the Halo feel

You sir are witnessing how humans don’t like change on a much cy babied level.

Reach is fine if you play a Title updated playlist I finally broke over and played some last night and only got annoyed with the sprint sword combo. The ranking system is garbage they need to show the BPR and the rank or something and actually match people of equal skill. But anyway looks like 343i fixed reach (as much as you can fix it) so at least I will play that more othen now, and yeah I know they did it a long time ago but But I only played team slayer and apparently that doesn’t have the title updated. Super Slayer is pretty fun tho if anyone hasn’t played in a long time they should try it out I was pleasently surprised.

They’re just mad because they didn’t get a beta.

It’s tough to say… I had so many fun memories of halo 3 matchmaking… But I think the main things I appreciated in Reach was it was an effort to breathe life into the franchise by adding new things, removing the myriad of unnecessary weapons that were in halo 3 and making the weapons sound and feel precise and powerful… Except the assualt rifle which definitely fell short of many peoples expectations after all the negative feedback from halo 3s assualt rifle

The arguments I’ve seen on these forums and the bungie.net forums are stupid. They give examples of stuff that only happen every 1% of games played per day. How can a drop shield ever be thought upon as overpowered? How can active camo, which I think was underpowered in Reach, be overpowered?

The arguments people give for sprint are stupid - People can run away and evade confrontations with people. This can be fixed easily which it is in Halo 4. People are slowed down when someone is being shot at sprinting in Halo 4.

Jetpack is designed for the maps in Halo 4 so I don’t mind it being in the game. The Jetpack in Halo Reach allowed players to go places not intended for people to be able to get to. But they’ve fixed that in Halo 4.

The armour abilities I don’t want to see in Halo 4 are armour lock and evade - We all know why armour lock shouldn’t be in the game but or evade, I think it’s way too overpowered. When people are sprinting, you can still shoot them but it’s very hard to shoot someone when they evade (Jumping from one place to another in a matter of milliseconds). It’s very hard to shoot them but not as hard for them to shoot you.

Overall I think they just want the exact same game over and over. Although I do think Halo 3 is and always will be my favourite game ever. It’s campaign, multiplayer and custom games replay value is much more than any other game I’ve ever played in my life.

I don’t understand the complaining either, people don’t look at the whole game, just the small little things that they don’t like. It’s not the same game, it’s not supposed to copy-past Halo: CE every time with new fancy graphics… Some people want 1-50, no sprint, social and ranked playlists, etc. I really don’t know why, if you want this stuff just go play Halo 3, you can still play it. Why would somebody buy a game if it’s exactly the same as the prequel? That doesn’t make any sense…

Armor abilities are not a problem themselves. The reason why they hate them so bad is because in Reach, they all had pros and no cons really. I am looking forward to AA in Halo 4, since they will have their up and downs now.
