Let me start by saying that I was not able to play the flight. I had a camping trip that was scheduled long before they announced the flight, and there’s nothing I could do. That being said, I’ve been trying to soak up as much info as possible, and I just don’t understand why bloom is being re-added to the series for precision weapons, and specifically why it’s being added for the sniper rifle. For people that played, was it noticeable?
nope. The only issue I had with the snipe is it felt slow. Not really a bloom issue but more that it felt like the game prevented you from shooting it quickly so it felt like you fought it. Other then that, no bloom was noticable

They have an option in the settings where you can toggle off bloom. Not sure why they don’t have one for hit markers…. But anyway…At this point bloom is just another aesthetic like ADS it serves another pointless function for just being there should of just not had it in the first place makes the sniper reticle look awful… another weird descision by the development team I guess…
Hopefully we get more graphics settings for consoles like the ability to turn off bloom on everything, once the game releases.
Edit: My god I’m an idiot!
I thought this was about “bloom” as in graphics. Not enough caffeine yet clearly.

its not really a weird decision. When implemented properly, reticle bloom gives more visual feedback to the player when firing. Reach was an interation in which it wasnt implemented properly. I think infinite put a sweet spot in where it really has no effect outside that visual feedback (and before you go “oh but the sound does that” remember, not everyone has immaculate hearing, your experiance is not everyone elses).
you could definitely feel the bloom on the sniper. It did not feel good at all. The sniper isnt even 100% accurate when no scoping. You could shoot the sniper faster than the bloom could reset when no scoping. When scoping the bloom reset quicker. They nerfed no scoping hard. The sniper just needs to be reworked all together in how it functioned. Only things good about it where how it looked and sounded lol.
Sniper felt awful, bloom in general I don’t think belongs in Halo and definitely not the sniper. Most people’s favorite weapon in halo and right now I don’t think a single person likes how it feels. Definitely needs a rework.
I didn’t notice it at all actually, but I didn’t snipe very much.

Not really.
Also, bloom on the sniper seems to only exist while unscoped and I have not seen any bloom on the BR.
But you be the judge of that yourself:
Assault Rifle.
Battle Rifle.
Bulldog.
Commando.
Heatwave.
Needler.
Plasma Pistol.
Pulse Carbine.
Ravager.
Sidekick.
Skewer.
Sniper.
SPNKr.

That is extremely helpful actually, thank you! Generally speaking, I don’t mind bloom on weapons that don’t get extra damage from headshots, but adding it to precision weapons just seems to add RNG to something that should be about skill. I don’t love that the AR does headshot damage, and the Commando seems to have far too much bloom. Sidekick, I get but don’t love and the Sniper seems inexcusable to me.
I’d vote no bloom no randomness, I’d guess most high level sniper players would prefer they got rid of it too.
We’ve somehow come full circle from 343 coming in to give us reduced/no bloom options to bringing back to bloom to the degree that even the bloody sniper has bloom. Unless it was a bug in the case of the sniper, the pro team is completely useless.
And I thought the Sidekick felt awful and Celestis’ video confirms that the bloom was even worse then I thought. Awful, inconsistent garbage and there are people that honestly think these are good starting weapons.

Yes in the consistency department, you’de absolutely shred an opponent with a weapon like the AR ,next guy full clip . The BR seemed like the only weapon without or very low levels ,
I’m not a fan of randomised mechanics deciding a gun battle and as much as it was a little annoying during the test you know that’s going to grow into a much bigger annoyance as time progresses with more pvp under our belts and the shiny new game thing wears off and your losing a dual due to mr RNGesus ,
my hope is they rein it back in somewhat because when coupled with low AA and bullet magnetism on controller it’s looking like it’s going to be frustrating more than fun over the long term .
For the hip fire bloom with the sniper rifle, perhaps the intent was to balance the kb/m player’s comparatively large advantage in no-scoping accuracy compared to the controller player’s?
for me the bloom on the sidekick was the most frustrating thing
I’ve said it many times, but the descoped sniper needs bloom (or a similar mechanic) to accommodate for PC players being introduced. I personally don’t like it on any other weapon, but for the sniper, I feel it is essential.
I didn’t mind the bloom much, just had to pace my shots like in halo reach. Plus, the BR has no bloom which makes it stand out and have a special place in the sandbox.
Thought the bloom was wayyyy to extreme. As a PC player who has been playing a lot of Splitgate, I can, with confidence, say that bloom needs a re-work.
Not to mention have they learned nothing through the years? Bloom makes gunfights random and unfun. Just tone it down almost completely

Its an actual mechanic though. Disabling the visual affect doesn’t disable the in game mechanics.

The mechanic isn’t affected by aim it’s a visual aesthetic only…
