K27 was my automatic tag given to me the first time I played Halo. It sounded cool and the K stands for Kameron (Cameron my middle name, Kameron my fictional character).
The tag also resembled my brothers automatic tag X26 (X=K) so we decided to keep our names.
When Halo Reach came out in 2010 I was required to add a fourth letter. I added R at the end of my tag because it looked good.
K27R refers to X26 which refers to Experiment 626 (Powerful koala looking alien). Experiment 27 is the upgraded version regarding power from X26. K is the upgrade from X. R is the additional bonus for good looks.
K27R is also very recognisable, memorable. easy to pronounce and contains even more benefits such as how unique the name is and how easy it makes my life when compared a wierd Gamertag like “Z0mbi3Xiller69”. (Gamertags like that are just not cool)
Bonus: the numbers 4 and 7 are recognised as a spiritually valuable numbers in the Bible, so having a name with 4 digits (with a 7 in the middle) makes my name feel more valuable.

I once had a system for Spartan designations where the alphabet was represented by numbers:
A - 1, B - 2, C - 3, D - 4, E - 5, F - 6, G - 7, H - 8, I - 9, J - 0, K - 1, L - 2, M - 3, N - 4, O - 5, P - 6, Q - 7, R - 8, S - 9, T - 0, U - 1, V - 2, W - 3, X - 4, Y - 5, Z - 6
So, my name (I prefer to go by my middle name) beginning with an A (and my initials of DAR), my tag for Halo Reach, 4 and 5 would be A841 (Allen-RDA). For Halo 3 it would simply be 841.
SK8Z is a reference to some weird joke someone I knew had in High School where in an obnoxious fashion, they would say “Skaatteesss!!!”, so I kept it as a tag to remind me of the random hilarity I simply don’t understand.
