What's the problem?

These forums are filled with unriddled hate for 343 and halo 4 the same and to be completely honest I can see why but my problem with more than half of these complaints is the ever so popular phrase “343 killed halo” now does this game have problems? Hell yeah it has problems the shield recharge rate being to high no descoping and weapons despawning quicker than you respawn just to name a few But this game does not deserve these astonishingly hurtful words 343i has made a crap ton of mistakes more than bungie ever did in any other halo yet there is an ever occurring pattern occurring every new halo installment since halo 2 new game comes out fanbase whines and complains and returns to the last installment this is becoming ever so predictable and I feel the reasoning behind these migrations become more and more ridiculous but that is not why I created this discussion my question is if the majority of “veteran” halo players are fed up with 4 with the reasoning of they don’t like custom load outs no boltshot no quick spawn no killcams no perks no dmr no ordinance . No armor abilities and dislike of map design why are you not playing team throwdown in halo 4? I sat back and watched this hate flow from this split community for alot of things and I can’t state enough I agree with the majority of them yet it confuses me why this great majority of players left halo 4 to go back to reach (IMO the most disgusting excuse for a halo game to date lore breaking anti competitive game ever until 343 patched it) with the reasoning of halo 4 doesn’t feel like halo when 90% of user complaints are non existent in team throwdown everyone spawns with brs and two frag grenades and you are left to pickup whatever weaponry you seem fit no radar no quick spawn no game breaking ordinance and armor abilities that you earn and can only have the continued usage for one life and all community maps that are mostly all symmetrical I just got done playing this game type for a few hours straight and left the lobby with a smile because this game type feels like a faster paced halo 3 which seems to be what everyone wants a restamped halo game year by year the most ironic part of this is this game type only garnishes almost 600 players out of the 3000 that currently play the game. If these changes are what you wanted why aren’t you playing this game type right now majority migrators? I genuinely want too know is there something wrong with the game type? Do people not know its here? Thank you for your patience I know I rambled but this puzzled me and I would like to see the responses from the community

Well first let’s fix this annoying wall of text.

I apologize lol I should have been more considerate and structured do you have any thoughts?

> Since Halo 2, every time a new game comes out the fanbase whines and complains and returns to the last installment. This is becoming ever so predictable and I feel the reasoning behind these migrations become more and more ridiculous. Nonetheless, that is not why I created this discussion.

Ever since Halo 2 (arguably since Halo CE), the game has become progressively less competitive and progressively more casual and imbalanced.

This is self evident in people assuming the new killtimes are “like Call of Duty”, even though these killtimes were present in Halo games before Halo 3/Halo Reach came out and slowed down the franchise.

Regardless, you are assuming that just because a portion complains means the entire fanbase complains. Which isn’t true.

> My question is if the majority of “veteran” halo players are fed up with Halo 4 because they do not like ordnance, loadouts, etc. why don’t they just play Team Throwdown?

Most people avoid it out of fear of being destroyed. Not everyone who likes classic Halo is good at classic Halo.

Personally, I enjoy it but don’t play it because I don’t use a mic and do not wish to be a potential burden.

> The irony is, Throwdown only has around 5% of the total population currently playing the game. If this gametype is similar to what the majority who left wanted, why are they not playing it?

There’s a small minority who do not even know Throwdown exists.

Ignoring those people, being shoved into a dead playlist with limited maps and flawed settings doesn’t have widespread appeal.

> I genuinely want to know is there something wrong with Throwdown? Do people not know its here? Thank you for your patience I know I rambled but this puzzled me and I would like to see the responses from the community

Throwdown is more competitive than vanilla Halo 4 but is still flawed due to poor map selection, poor base mechanics like sprint and heavy aim assist, etc.

Competitives would be more likely to choose ProMod, a community mod that fixes even more issues than Throwdown does.

No solid playlist with radar enabled. Throwdown was never meant to attract the masses, its essentially for the very talented Halo players and for them to be very talented there clearly can’t be too many of them…

Now add another playlist which has everything that Throwdown has in addition to the radar enabled and you will satisfy the masses which have left.

In short we are missing the Team Slayer from Halo 3…

I apologize if I came across as accusing the majority of halo players of migrating to the previous installment but the topic of sprint being a broken base feature if you ask me is highly debatable even though I personally feel that sprint could work in any future halo games if the player can be shot and knocked out of sprint I believe that would kill half of the issue with the mechanics but in what way is throwdowns map selection bad? We have some halo 2 remakes we have arena based maps that are symmetrical thank The Lord and even the few halo 4 maps that operate well like haven and adrift I feel the selection of maps are even though not as robust are more than enough and I don’t find myself screaming whyyyyyyy are we playing here (I’m looking at you complex) but thank you for your input as I now have a better understanding of why the majority does not play team throwdown

Then again the disc map selection for 4v4 is pretty awful. You have only 3 maps that work for Slayer: Haven, Abandon, and Skyline. One of them being DLC. Honestly Complex is a better 4v4 Slayer map then Solace. Solace is by far the worst map.

I feel sympathy towards 343i and I love their game (from Ken Scott’s art direction to great maps like Haven or Abandon), but when they made default 4v4 Team Slayer playlist unplayable (technical issues of Forge maps + awful Slayer Pro), they’ve crossed the line.

I just want to play their -Yoinking!- game, but I can’t!

I guess other people have their own reasons to give feedback on this forum.

I think the majority of dissatisfaction with Halo 4 and 343i comes from the fact that 343i has not been communicating with the community in any meaningful way. The perception that a lot of the community has is that 343i is not listening and doesn’t really care what they think. This has only gotten worse since launch. The admins seem to have stopped replying to most threads except to lock or censor them.

If 343i wants the community’s opinion of them and their games to improve, I think they need to actively engage with us, prove that they give a damn about the Halo community.

This game had tons of potential. Keyword HAD

You’re missing the point.

If you have people “drop out of sprint” the only purpose sprint fills is to allow people to travel when they aren’t in combat. Which is pointless since maps used to be small enough where this wasn’t an issue at all.

Sprint doesn’t add anything that proper base speed and proper map size don’t already solve.

Throwdown doesn’t have bad map selection, but it has limited map selection. There’s only a handful and to be honest I find Simplex to be rather bland.

I think that legendary slayer is going to have all of this it’s supposed to be released in July hopefully it’s good

What don’t you like about slayer pro?
