Whats the problem with the ranking system?

I see there seems to be some problem with the ranking system.
Someone explain to me how ranking actually works and what the actual problem is because I am very confused about it.

Thank you.

cry for me

IT’S INVISIBLE so if it does work, we don’t see it.

The problem is that it will be invisible. No one, not even yourself can see it. So its basically Halo Reach version 2 and the community including myself are pissed!

CONFUSION SPELL

YOU ARE NOW CONFUSE

ROLL A DICE.

IF 4 OR LOWER TAKE 2 DAMAGE.

They aren’t happy cauz’ they can’t get shinny medal or symbol to show how well they boost or do.

1-50 was flawed because once you recieved a 50, you had no incentive to play the playlist anymore. There were also some technical issues but that’s besides the point.

Cheaters, Boosters and delevelers are not a problem anymore seeing how they can be tracked and banned.

We were all expecting a replacement or a more improved version of 1-50. Instead, we got a more improved version of Reach’s invisible system.

Basically, they polished a turd.

A lot of it has to do with how people are upset because they don’t have a two pixel number next to their name that says that they’re better than everyone else.
Some of the more legitimate claims have to do with people’s fear of an unbalanced ranking system.

Cry us a freakin river. Just because you cant see it? I don’t understand… If your good you get matched up with good players this is bad because? The only difference is…
no visual… wooptie doo

How is it Reach version 2 when it’s been explained many times that Reach had a loose Trueskill system, Halo 4 will be strict.

im ok with this lack of ranks, because i do not need a rank to tell me how good/bad i am at a game.

Ok, before this thread gets locked I just want to say that the problem revolves around a big misunderstanding. People just need to take a deep breath and think for a moment.

How about incentive to play and win? You can not deny the absolute failure of halo reach’s matchmaking. some people tried, most didnt, some people didnt even play. Rank gives you something to strive for, something to motivate yourself to get better.

thos 2 pixel numbers you are talking about are what made the game so competitive without thos two numbers we will still have people who don’t care to win and the people who quit just because they are losing or do not like the map/gametype there is no fun in that and people have a right to be upset an actual ranking system gives people incentive to win and a reason to continue playing long after the game is released…

Oh really? The whole community? I didn’t realize everyone plays Halo the exact same way.

Far too many people are making too much of a big deal of it - I don’t need a number to tell me how I’m doing or how well I’m playing - ill know myself.

yah look at COD and how everyone thinks they are GODs, until you smack them down, then you think your a God, until someone smacks you down. Basing your skill level off what you think is never going to be accurate.

There are other ways to give incentive to players to win, like give points for playing objectively, which is what Halo 4 is doing.

hmm did i say whole community? dont think so, but nice try

and whats going to stop your team from betraying you the whole time because they are bored or them quitting because they don’t like the gametype/map also what gives them a reason to play their hardest to win also everything i said goes for the other team as well. an invisible ranking system does none of this and without people actually playing to win there is no way that an invisible system can keep up with their actual skill level because they don’t care to actually play to begin with thus breaking the new invisible system to begin with -_-

This.

Also when I’m playing MP I usually play to win. I never have the mentality of playing to lose - I intend on winning matches. That’s enough incentive for me.
