What's the point?

So you get early access to the specialisations with the limited edition, but you can only use specialisations at max rank, right? So I would assume getting that rank would take awhile, and by that time they would most likely be unlocked for all. So what do you gain by having early access exactly? Why are 343 holding back on on disk content? Do you have to be max rank before even being able to get to level one of a specialisation? This whole thing is a mess, I really don’t quite understand any of this fully. It’s like the article was written by an excited ten year old that wants to tell you something so bad that he’s skipping entire parts of his story.

So what exactly do you gain from early access to these specialisations when you won’t be using them until months down the line? 343 really need to give us a clear explanation.

The point is you get to chose between more options not just 2 when you reach that rank.

And those options may be more catered towards your playstyle.

Pretty good question dude. I was pretty confused myself. Its like, i know how cool specializations could be…and thats it. Thats all I really got from it =/.

Regular edition players have access to 2 specializations when they get there.

Limited edition players get access to all 8.

You don’t say? Now lets try this again but without the glibness. You can use specialisations at max rank, having 8 from launch means nothing as you won’t see them until months down the line if this is the case. Would 343 really hold this content from people who bought the regular edition for that long, and if so why?

I don’t think that’s it. I think they just get access to them early.

This is where “re-enlisting” comes into play. When you reach the highest level, you’ll gain the 2 specializations and the option to re-enlist back to the first level. Then, when you reach highest level, you’ll unlock more specialization(s) and more re-enlists. At least that’s how I’m interpreting what was said at the SDCC panel, if I recall it correctly.

Basically, Limited Edition users won’t have to level up over and over to get to choose between having one of everything as opposed to one of two, then three and four, etc.

but he’s saying that you wont be able to use them until you get to the max rank. which will take so long and by then everyone will have all 8 of them.
but to the post. thats a very good point. i just thought about that before i read your post.

H4 seems geared towards being able to achieve the highest level multiple times. I have a hunch that it won’t take nearly as long to reach the highest level in H4 as it took in Reach.

I would imagine the other specializations would unlocked after the community has hit a certain goal, similar to what Bungie did with Halo: Reach’s armor mod additions and ranks. Who knows if 343i plans to unlocked the others all at once or a few at a time.

Well, I hope the guys that are getting the regular edition have fun once people unlock rouge and stalker. I bet it’s going to be a blast. In all honesty I can’t see why 343 made the vast majority of these specialisations a timed LE exclusive, people hated being stuck at Lt colonel for so long in reach, what makes them think people will be okay with them spoon feeding them content they’ve already paid for?

none of this is fully explained or confirmed, so best advice is just wait for 343 to explain

this exactly.
