What's the point of smurf accounts

Just got beat by a level 11 champion that’s won all 30 games they played. What’s the point in making a smurf account?
Im not upset that I lost, but why spend the money on Xbox live to play hw2 online with a new account?

Smurf accounts are almost always free so they aren’t paying for them. I don’t know what it’s called but it has something to do with making your Xbox your home Xbox and any other account made on it is free. I don’t know how many you can make like that.

Anyways, the point of a smurf varies from person to person. They may want to try new things without sacrificing their stats, or they want to play 1v1 and not stress as much. After all, if you lose on a throwaway account who really cares.

But yeah like I said it depends on the individual on why they are doing it.

Because people think it’s cool to be on the leaderboards, that aren’t even in the game. Also them smurfers like to boost also. :flushed::zipper_mouth_face:

I’m honestly depressed at how many smurf accounts there are because i already felt the community for this game was tiny and clearly its even smaller since multiple champion accounts are the same people.

Ive been both of those. Back in mw2 when cod was worth buying.

Before the recent patch, it was used as a means to actually be able to play the game. If you were a notorious player for better or worse, people always backed out and avoided playing with you. So Smurf accounts allowed them anonymity to actually play.

But since the patch, it’s pointless imo. Self glorified stat padding that like to take advantage of the games placement system to face bad people with a clean slate in order to shoot up the leaderboards.

Rare recently made a statement in regards to their tech test alpha of Sea of Thieves saying that they had the ability to see who’s accounts were linked to free gold accounts so that people couldn’t get multiple entries to try and get alpha access. That being said, I’m curious why other developers don’t use this same information to thwart off Smurf accounts.

As I said, I don’t mind losing, and they are obviously a top tier player. I just don’t understand the point of making a different account.
Not complaining, just confused.
