Everyone yo-yos at a certain point, you won’t constantly climb or constantly fall.
While you may have reached a point where you rank up slower than you fall, there are lots of players experiencing the reverse where they lose they don’t lose any rank and when they win they gain a bunch of rank. Depending on where your rank ends up you can experience both of these things.
Ranked has too many issues. Lot of people complaining about ranked are Onyx. But the same issues applies also for lower tiers. Im floating around platinum 2-4. I play and win a ranked objective match with positive K/D and get 0 point of CSR.
I play and lost a ranked match, but with a positive K/D. I lose some points of CSR.
You know, im tired of hearng about “but the formula goes that way” - “but your MMR is” …
I dont care. 99% of my matches i was solo queing. It was the matchmaking System putting me in this fireteam against the other fireteam. It wasnt me chosing a side or a map or the gamemode. So my teams wins and im positive but get no CSR.
Well, its the fault of the MMS, a flawed formula that is calculating the CSR.
One of the reasons why i quit playing Halo Infinite MP a week ago.
Coming back mid feb to check if the MP patch solved some of the issues or at least improved the situation.
The weekly reward with that challenge system are not enough incentive for me to keep playing MP.
CSR gains are largely based on all of your games so you shouldn’t expect huge gains from an individual performance.
Usually you’ll get a big rank up in CSR if you either do a ridiculous performance and shift your MMR massively based on it (less likely to do this if you’ve played a lot) or because your team was massively expected to lose.
Put it this way. My friend is 1600 and change and we are both pretty similar in skill. We both beat other in 1v1s. But yet I’m a lower rank. Granted he played a lot more games than me but I do feel like this ranking system isn’t placing players in the right bracket. I also feel that loosing carries way too much weight as it currently stands. In halo 5 when you lost it wasn’t this bad. You’d loose a lot but not a whole 10 to 20 points on ONE GAME
I didn’t play much Halo 5, never hit a peak in a playlist so I’m not sure how it was, but I imagine it must have been somewhat similar in principle as they use the same Trueskill2 system which works on the aforementioned basis. Infinite’s may be modified though.
1v1 skills aren’t always transitional to 4v4 so you might be able to take wins off your friend then not convert it into the team games as well there. I used to be great at Slayer, but suck at Objective. Lost many 1v1s in Halo 3 too to players that I dominated in 4v4 scenarios. I think the main thing is how you stack up to players regularly in the playlist. Feel like I’m always able to estimate what rank I’ll eventually settle into in Halo based on what rank of players give me a real hard time, and what players I can easily dominate.
Talking about Halo 5 actually I’ve seen players lose that much CSR in Onyx.
I completely agree…more than half my games teammates quit…I honestly think to rank up, one needs a consistent squad (I have yet to find). At this rate I de-rank through no fault of my own. The more I play the more teammates quit. Not much I can do except enjoy being lower rank and farm kills at this point. I always go for the win, but when I see game out of reach, then I switch to have fun mode.
I know Ranked is royally forked up right now (especially for Solo/Duo), but most players should know this by now too and if you’re not going into the Ranked playlist with at least 3 players, preferably a full party, then that’s on you. You should have gotten a full party of players who weren’t going to quit and are going to communicate like the majority of other players do in Ranked.
As for fixing it… the only thing they can do is use the CSR to smooth out the journey (by having a value that lags a few games behind). But I’m not sure that is the type of “satisfaction” people are looking for.
I mean this is exactly how it worked in Halo 2 and all the uber “LEET”, MLG “if you’re not high ranked you have no right to an opinion” bro’s swore by it.
Agreed. After today I might not play Ranked anymore. I am sick and tired of wasting week after week with the constant oscillations and no movement upward.
You may well be oscillating because you have reached your skill rank ceiling.
From there it may well take weeks, even months, of effort to improve your rank. That’s true for any life skill.
It didn’t take me long to go from low to mid Platinum (the Honeymoon period). But weeks to get high Platinum. And months to push / scrape into Diamond (which I’m struggling to keep).
