What’s the point of placing in ranked if you don’t fight against those of equal or near equal placement? I am constantly stuck playing against high diamond as the lowest, onyx as the average, and high champion, even though I place platinum 5. I placed average 4th to 6th place in FFA for 10 games in a row. I know this has a lot to do with my score in warzone crossing into arena (which is such a terrible thing)

If its ffa, its purely due to population.
I see this in every ranked type

Other than population, this may occur because you have a high MMR, or your opponents have low MMRs. Matches are made according to MMR, not CSR, so it’s possible that you’re playing a fair match (even MMRs) because some of the CSRs are not perfectly reflective of a player’s actual skill.

Adding to the point that limited population is going to make FFA have loose matchmaking, I don’t see you running into Onyx as average.
Looks like you played 5-6 onyx players and 2 champs in 12 games…so around 14% of your opponents (though we can’t easily tell the skill of the unranked players you faced).

If I had to assume, fewer people are playing Halo 5: Guardians competitively than socially. It’s a game from 2015 that was fairly disliked, so it’s probably just matching you with whoever is left.

Ranked slayer is the most popular playlist overall, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the combined social population exceeds the total ranked population. Either way, FFA isn’t going to have a huge pool of players.
