It’s obvious that 343i is ok with just making up whatever they want, regardless of how the universe has been established. Like giving Master Chief a jetpack. When everyone called them out for changing the Chief, they covered it up by, in a book mind you, making up that the newest iteration of armor automatically upgrades itself while in cryo, so of course, despite being totally unlocate-able to the UNSC and therefore unable to receive updates, the Chief could totally have a jetpack. I can’t wait for them to bring back the BR, only now it shoots lasers. And since the Chief gets upgrades, why not build energy sword blades into his arms? Now every melee is a one hit kill. And his helmet fires lazers from the flashlight.
What’s the point of canon? Sort of breaks down narrative if one second a character is one way and the next he’s another way. Why even have a narrative at all at that point? Might as well just make the game Shadowrun and have purely multiplayer.

They were “Micro-gravity thrusters”, only useful in zero-G environments

I’m kind of glad MC’s getting a new look, I was getting kind of bored of Mark VI which was introduced in 2004. Even if it doesn’t make sense, I’m all for it and I think you’re overreacting.
Perhaps you should go read on what zero G thrusters are. He is not using a jet pack, he is using zero G thrusters, which he has had since he got his VI armour.
Did you know that Mjolnir Mk VI armor had that? It isn’t a bloody jetpack btw. It’s a zero-g thruster mechanism that is used to allow MC to properly navigate in space. You (the player) used this in a sense in Halo 2, when you were on the outer hull of Cairo Station. And it is implied that MC used this system to guide the Covenant Bomb at the end of the level.
So please, LEARN the Canon before you decide what isn’t Canon. This is information we’ve had since 2005.
It was also implied that Master Chief uses these thrusters to jump slightly higher, it was used to explain the high/floaty jumps in Halo 2 and 3. I find it nice that they have the graphical capacity to finally show it in-game, I’m hoping to see the thrusters activate when players jump in-game.
I get what you’re saying, OP, but remember that Chief is on a ship full of scrap metal, being piloted by a massively-intelligent AI filled with advanced Forerunner knowledge, housed on a supercomputer with access to all of the machines and mechanisms of its containing vessel. She could probably MacGyver new armor parts out of the ship’s wreckage.

How about instead of acting like a child, wait until Solid info comes out. BTW its a Zero-G thruster that he has had since Halo 2. You need to use common sense.
I doubt he’ll be using the “jetpack” in the scene where he wakes up in the game. You guys have to remember that the trailer is rendered in CG and just hints at stuff coming in the game (for example: the planet, new armor for the Chief, the new gun). He’s probably going to wake up as the same Chief we remember from Halo 3.

Jetpack? Where? I saw a Zero-G Thruster which he has had since Halo 2.

Non-Canon trailer does not show that Chief’s armour magically changes. I do believe however that during the game we will upgrade to Mk VII at some point, just not right at the start.

Actually one specific thing Frankie said is that while this is the first time we see Master Chief outside of the cryo-pod, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is the first time he left it.
And reading the novels, we know a ship has been sent after Master Chief carrying Mk VII armor.

Why would the Chief leave cryo, get new armour and then decide to go back into the broken FuD?

Could there have been a MK VII suit on the Forward unto Dawn, and it upgraded in cryo.

Were do you think he left to? (sarcasm)

No. There couldn’t have been.
But the UNSC Infinity is currently being sent in Master Chief’s direction carrying a suit of MK VII for him.

I don’t think he did leave cryo. Bar exploring the ship what other alternative is there to exit cryo sleep.

This. The trailer is only there to show that there will be a Halo 4. You’ll probably start with Mark VI in the game and then get, what I presume to be Mark VII later on in the game.
Canon expands the story we’ve all cone to know and love.
By the way, that was a, stay with me here, TEASER TRAILER.

Oh ok, thanks for clearing it up for me.
i love how OP is all mad and assumes the teaser is canon

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Master Chief have zero-gee thrusters back in CE? Didn’t he have them during the Fall of Reach? That was how he made his way into the space station above Reach to destroy the nav data. At least that was what I got from it.
