they only count towards assist but that means nothing. your k/d still gets punished if you have less kills and more deaths. It just makes me want to stop assisting the team less if Im being honest
Assists give you 50 points and they also count as 0.3 to your kda. If you have 7 assists, 5 kills and 6 deaths, your kda would be 1.3 at the end of the match. Plus, assisting your team makes it easier to win.
You still aided a teammate in securing a kill. If you had 5 kills and 5 deaths, but had even just 3 assists I’d say you still contributed positively towards your team.
Drive a hog and you’ll understand.
They counted for something in Last Spartan Standing.
If assists counted for nothing, I’d be worthless as a team member
. It feels like I get more assists than kills in most matches ![]()
Sadly there is no Wheelman medal this game. So you don’t really get any acknowledgment for being a good driver sob
I’ll never relate with people that stress over their K/D. You know if you did well or not, you don’t need a number to tell you. But good luck chasing your stats.
Well, assists directly contribute to winning the match, so there’s that
who cares about securing my teammate a kill when my k/d goes down and thats all that matters? not my fault 343 has placed so much emphasis on k/d.
Im done assisting.
I had 12 points captured on point control but because I had a low k/d I was at the bottom of my teams scoreboard. before anyone says 343 doesnt place an emphasis on having a high k/d
Just about every game has a strong emphasis on killing the enemy. 343i did nothing different in that regard. But a kill is a kill regardless, they’re still down a teammate and thus easier to manage.
You’re just going to have to figure out a way to deal with your problem if it really bothers you that much.
If you think this will help you rank up then go for it. Probably won’t.
then my teammates will have one less partner. Im done assisting until 343 fixes the kill stealing / assist bs. Halo is the only game where this happens regularly
wins mean nothing to personal k/d
Wheelman is awarded if your gunner secures 10 kills in a match. Not as effective as individual medals and personally I preferred Reach’s spree tiers (Wheelman Spree, Road Hog and Road Rage) for 5, 10, and 15 driver assists.
Assists increase your hidden true skill.
Assists increase the the progress on challenges (get _ assists, Get __ score)
Assists means you are performing well.
Assists increase your KDA
Control point is basically another variant of slayer. Of course kills give more points. You even get more points for defensive kill or offensive kill medals
Yeah, no. This is one of the few things 343i has done right. A kill is a kill. If you did not get the kill you will get an assist. Sorry that you’re used to other games that artificially pump up your k/d as long as you do at least hairs worth of damage to a player’s hp bar. Further more, there is no such thing as stealing a kill in a team based game. You’re all on the same side and working towards the same goal.
If you don’t get this, get ready to loose a lot more games, because team work makes the dream work and ATM you’re not a team player.
There is this great playlist you can use to pad out your K/D. I think it’s called Bot Bootcamp. Get it high enough to satisfy your ego and then go play with like a normal person.
K/D = kills/deaths
There is nothing about wins or loses in that equation… Why would there be?
Sounds like you should be looking at wins/losses stats.
343 have put very little on the KD.
And that a good thing.
Yes for killing more!
No if you mean not team shooting. That way leads to more losses.
I’m sure it’s not KD per se.
You need to go in with a team mentality.
Assists are part of this.
But keep in mind there are good assists (team shooting) and bad assists (losing a genuine 1v1 and just getting lucky that a team mate rocked up to trade).
If you mean your TrueSkill2 MMR - then no. KD is not the metric. You need high kill rates and, to a lesser extent, low death rates.
KPM is different to KD.
Most of the people in this thread give terrible advice
But not everyone.
Some people actually read the TS2 discussion paper.
And understand that KPM (the performance metruic) and KD are very different beasts.
But bottom line is assists don’t rank you up directly. But playing the right way tends to lead to assists. And importantly wins.
