You don’t even get put with people in your rank, its random…
Well there is a range. But I understand what your saying not a very good setup
I don’t think theres a range, im now platinum 1 and im put with unranked, diamond 3’s and diamond 1’s and golds in SWAT
They have an update coming for ranks in the December update.
They put you vs unranked that are playing at your level to see if they qualify for your division. And they put you up against a plat to see if they need to go down and you move up.

Spinkick FTW
Game match up feels very much like Reach we’ll place you with anyone who is on line, I don’t think the win/loses is working for rank when I’m seeing Diamond and Onyx players with really bad K/D.
Rank should be earned not carried.
I actually have no clue what my rank is, because it doesn’t impact the game in any important way. All unlocks are just based on how much Money/req Points you spend anyway, so why play for XP?
Matchmaking relies on ranking.
Your division and level are merely a number representing 343’s internal assessment of your skill level.
Ideally you would be matched against players who are within plus or minus, say 10% of your skill level. This would make each game a challenge and allow your to gradually work your way up/down the ranking tree as your form sees fit. I don’t know how linear the ranks are treated… but as a mid-silver player I don’t mind playing against low to mid golds. Anything higher and it’s a struggle.
For me personally, matchmaking is working really well. I have a K/D of 1.0 and a win % of nearly 50%. I feel that I had a chance in most of the games I’m put in.
PS. If your K/D is > 1.0 or you are winning > 50% then matchmaking is failing you.
