what's the point in using the carbine?

Hey,

I’ve been testing out the carbine for the past days.
I think it’s way to weak, I mean, you need to hit a lot of shots and reload after almost every kill. I like the weapon cause you need skill to handle it but still…

Maybe speed up the reload? 1 shot less to kill? Do you agree with me?

And btw, Im not bad at halo nor am I pro. I can win 1v1 against DMR users but it’s just the fact that if I also used the DMR i could have gotten that dbl or trpl kill a lot easier/faster.

I want to use the carbine so bad :frowning: I like how it feels in hand more than the DMR/BR, but, yeah, it is outclassed constantly. You mainly get shields down for your teammates to get kills.

i use the carbine and i have beaten dmr/BR users. i don’t see the problem. also the flinch feature carries the carbine due to the rate of fire.

It’s great for headshots, and has a great rate of fire. It is rather weak, though. I’d use it for clean-up kills.

like I wrote, I can also win against DMR/BR users with it.
That was not the point. If I also use the DMR for example, I could kill them easier and also kill more people (multi kills) without reloading.
And I think the carbine has the worst reload time but Im not sure on that one.

About the flinch, I really don’t think it’s making it so much harder. But you may have right.
I can’t even remember if I’ve been shot at with the carbine. It’s just DMRs everywhere.

The great of fire (best of all the long rifles) is why it’s weak. It also has very little penalty for pulling the trigger like mad. It’s great in group shooting as you can be the guy who finishes an enemy with the headshot. I consider it the DMR’s baby sister.

I use it for my vehicle control class as I don’t aim to get into on-foot battles but I also want to be of use when my buddies are getting down. For reasons I can’t articulate quite yet I find it really good for strafe shooting, but not so good standing still against moving targets (something the DMR excels at).

so you can steal kills from that one annoying person in your party that nobody really likes except he has some special family ties with the party leader like he saved the party leader’s sister from drowning or something so that the party leader is forever indebted to him

I agree that it should be one less shot to kill. Also a carbine and DMR loadout (firepower) is really good.

I only ever use it when I literally cant find any other weapon in the entire game and I am out of ammo

its a last resort, would choose an AR over a carbine alot of the time if I ran out of dmr

Instead of thinking like “The DMR is more powerful therefore I can get more kills with it faster/easier”, use whichever you have more fun with. Theres no point playing Halo as a chore to get the most kills if you don’t have fun doing it.

I love it. It seems to be very flustering to the target, and the high rate of fire means I can get the head-shot much more easily after the target’s shields pop.

Plus, it’s just amazing in CQC.

I’ve used the carbine ever since I got the RGN skin and I gotta admit that it’s a fun gun. And unlike the DMR, the Carbine supports rushing and strafing with it’s high rate of fire.

Also, it’s the best weapon to pick off headshots, the one problem is that few people use it so you really do need the Ammo mod so you aren’t running out.

Mainly for commendations.

well it’s possible to get multi-kills with the carbine too, well at least when the other opponents shields are damaged… i agree that the reload time is terrible (2.5 seconds) at least it can be fixed with dexterity though. imo I think the DMR is OP compared to other primary rifles which is why everyone uses it.

Yeah I agree that it’s a fun weapon to use from time to time.
The ammo mod is very good with the carbine. But still, the reload time is quite long so dexterity is pretty good to… can’t decide

I enjoy the Carbine, but I think the biggest thing that unbalances it compare to others is flinch. Since there’s no unscoping and instead there’s flinch and flinch is damage based it means that DMRs and BRs cause a good deal of flinch. The Carbine on the otherhand causes almost no flinch at all. It’s like you’re not hitting them at all.

It’s great, it’s just the DMR being as overpowered as it is ruins the point in using any other weapons than the DMR. However, this may just be me, but it seems the hit registration with the Carbine is VERY glitchly sometimes.

Its kill time is actually pretty decent, the issue is that its magazine is so much smaller when you compare it to the damage out put of the DMR/BR/LR magazines.

You are punished much more for missing a Carbine shot than you are for missing a shot from another primary. It is actually supposed to be the other way around for a high rof, low damage weapon.

As it is now you have to be perfect for the Carbine to be a viable option. If you miss any at all your killtime will either be slower than that of a BR/LR(even if they also miss shots) or you will run out of ammo before you can finish your kill, especially at any significant range.

I wish it would get a buff to a 7 shot as that would instantly make it more viable as the magazine would get farther(making it more comparable with the other rifles) before reloading and would buff up the kill time.

It has no bloom and it doesn’t shoot in bursts so I think it’s logically the best.
