So, first, to get something cleared up. Second, I put this into the General section because this affects the recruiting and the Spartan Company forum sections, along with the Halo community at large. I love the idea of Spartan Companies. I also like how 343 carried them out. I just don’t like how they aren’t very visible. In-game, the only thing that shows that you are in a Spartan Company is a very tiny tag on your Service Record. I think that 343i had the right idea with Halo MCC, with a minimum number of games before joining a clan and a significantly more visible way to see clans, with the banner above their gamertag. I also think that just Achilles Armor as a reward isn’t the greatest idea. Why not get a silver pack or something like it when your Company reaches a milestone? I know that there are REQ packs, but they don’t have any permanents as far as I can tell. Maybe some slightly less fancy armor to be added at a more easily attainable height? Maybe the Mark VI Scarred and unscarred variants for those who never played MCC and a REQ pack for those who did?
Finally, there’s the very vocal player base surrounding Spartan Companies. I’ve gone into the Spartan Company forum section quite a few times, and its like a madhouse. So many identical threads. Just thread after thread after thread, trying to get people. Just this morning, I saw a guy with 16 nearly identical threads for his Spartan Company. 16! I reported him, and the admins reacted in about 15 minutes. (thanks btw.) I guess that what I’m trying to say is that Companies are basically just a thing on the Waypoint forums, and that that has caused both the recruiting and the Spartan Company section itself to mostly become a dark pit of death, despair, and just general headaches for everybody involved. I don’t really know what to do about it other than make Companies an in-game thing, so I would like some suggestions on how to make this forum, and the Halo community in general, a better place.
