What's the current status of alpha nine?

What is the latest info about them?

Per Halo Bad Blood they are all Spartan IV. Bucke leads the team having left Osiris and got everyone back together. He married Dare. I think they were sent to some secret base where they were gathering strength at the start of the Created Rebellion. Also in a prior book the Rookie is killed by one of the team who is a rebel but he changes his ways because he decides Skynet is a bigger problem than fighting the man. But yeah they’re out as a Team doing commando raids on the Created.

Beyond that. No idea. I don’t think they are referenced in Halo Infinite.

Book wise they seem to be in a holding pattern. Delaying what books have been announced. If I had to guess they really haven’t decided on the overall direction of the series and that gels well with what we see of Halo Infinite where they’re non commital on the story. Blood from a stone.

We’ll get stuff about them eventually. The author seems to be doing an ongoing series. At a guess, they’ll probably be wrote into some sort of First Order, sorry I mean Banished conflict.

I love star wars too! The first order are not like the banished: the banished don’t have a real goal and their leader in known among the ranks and inspires them.

He married Dare, not Vale

Ah my bad. Got mixed up.

Not to go too far off on a tangent, but I’d say Jul’s covenant are more the first order. Effectively the same faction as before (covenant) except with a different look and a leader who is supposedly 'differen’t (Jul technically being an Atheist but it having no real effect on the plot).

Though doesn’t help that Infinite tries really hard to shoehorn them into being covenant 3.0.

yeah, I totally agree

The First Order comparison comes from the idea that you have this faction come out of nowhere and magically build an armada “greater than any in the Galaxy” to paraphrase Escharum. Despite that going against common sense, established lore and a blatant attempt to try to force the protagonists into being the little guys. Which like why you have the Resistance instead of just having them be the New Republic; even though they actually are NR military fighting for that government.

Jul Covenant it’s very clear that they’re a remnant faction that’s only dangerous to the UNSC in as much as they can get access to Forerunner technology and allies. Whereas with the Banished, they are presented as a threat to the whole Galaxy and that the UNSC isn’t able to physically defeat them in a conventional war. Yes they want Zeta but they don’t need Zeta since they’ve already beaten the UNSC and essentially conquered the Galaxy.

I mean objectively they’re laughable and beneath contempt as your Space Marine protagonist massacres thousands of these weak and pathetic Xenos single handed. :wink:But, as presented they are meant to be taken as a serious threat within the narrative given by 343.

I mean at a guess. Alpha Nine showing up in the current story would make sense. They were Joes characters to some extent and they are doing this Lone Wolves stuff.

It felt odd that they had full concept art in the Encyclopedia for all the characters.

Maybe a cameo. They already teased Jun. Bucke making a man appearance is hardly out of the question.

But I mean; I have no insight into what they’re doing with the multiplayer story. That’s more being driven by production constraints than any creative vision and I think they’re just making up an unrelated story. Seems to be pointing towards some scheme about making non human AI on Venezia.I guess we’ll learn more some time next year.
