I’ve been playing Reach for four years or so. And through out the entire time of me playing. Armor Locke spam has always gotten me killed over the years. Especially on that one campy spot on Sword Base. You lovely people know which one i’m talking about. the one with the green grav liftcauseitsalwaysfuntogorightintoRRRRRGGH-. Anyway. Whats the best way to counter and beat it?
I usually tend to just walk away and leave them but if a teammate is around I’ll stay and we just wait for it to time out and we all throw grenades at the guy just before it pops.
I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but I liked to stand behind the offender and spam the melee button.
Try to learn the time and know in your head how long the lock will last and also keep an eye on if they have activated it once, left it and then reactivated it, and once you learn that you can be ready to attack once they exit it. Make sure you are several feet away from it to avoid the emp blast and melee distance when they exit and be ready with a shotgun or sword (if you have one) or throw a grenade at their feet (preferably plasma) so it damages them or kills them right away. Another good thing to do is jump and move sideways while keeping your weapon pointed at them simultaneously as they exit and as you begin attacking so it catches them off guard and hopefully enables you to put a few shots into them before they can into you. Also be wary of what they are carrying and that they may throw a sticky grenade at you so this is another reason why jumping to the side comes in handy, don’t just stand still and wait. Good luck.
Wait till it almost runs out and fire grenades at them. If you fight against a skilled team of 4 then i wouldnt know since it was the most annoying match ive played. Maybe use armor locke yourself at the right moment.only way to fight the unfair is by being unfair
I just ignore them until their armor lock runs out. Sometimes I’ll wait a little while and stick them with a plasma when I think it is about to run out.
I stare at them from a few feet away so I don’t get affected by the EMP blsst, and right before armor lock ends I throw grenades.

You gotta be careful with that technique though. Cause when the armour lock pops and you’re close enough, it can lower your shields and can be killed with one melee.
I just back up and let them spam it out and then once it’s run out then I continue. If they’re in your face it can be tricky but I would try to get behind them in that sense and hope I can hit them in the back. It’s a pretty situational circumstance. If you also use armour lock you can just try to out spam them lol.

Stay away untill the Armor lock runs out (if you stay close when they unlock your shields will go down and you may die) then shoot a plasma pistol or some thing to get their shields down and kill them
The best thing to do if you’re going up against someone using armor lock is to just run away from them. When people are using armor lock they most likely have 1-2 teammates nearby and while you’re focused on the guy using armor lock the other 1-2 enemies will go after you. If you deceide to fight the attckers then the guy using armor lock will go out of it and try killing you with his teammates.
What is armor lock?
The Hologram spec is a solid counter for most situations. If you run into armor lock on a close quarters map like Swordbase, duck into a room and send the Hologram back towards the armor locker. If performed subtly enough, the player will chase and then…assassination.

I usually leave them be or have a plasma pistol/magnum combo ready for them to pistol blast and sprint off.

You can’t Sprint and have Camo - so yes, this is definitely just a theory…
ill tell you how not to counter it…
- dont get into armor lock also…
- dont stand behind them and wait…
- dont shoot them with a rocket launcher
Whats really annoying is my brother putting infinite ammo/abilities on firefight for the elites and just stands there with armor lock forever.
Best way to counter it is by walking away or throwing grenades well into the lock.

Just don’t be idle waiting for them, because by then more of their teammates may join the fight. I’d say cautiously run away, holding your gun at them and checking your radar for any incoming enemy teammates. When you hear the armor about to pop shift to the side and throw a grenade at their feet.

Splash Damage from well timed grenades, an indirect hit from a well timed Rocket Launcher Rocket aiming it at the wall or ground next to the person using armor lock (As hitting them directly with it will cause it to ricochet off), and grenades from a Grenade Launcher work well. If you’re good at timing or a trick shot with the Grenade Launcher, you can get a direct hit when they come out of armor lock, killing them without putting yourself in harm’s way, and if you use the EMP Feature, you can eat their shield as long as it goes off near them for either you or a teammate to rush in and get a quick headshot. The best thing with trickshooting with the Grenade Launcher is that you can take most people who use armor lock by surprise this way, as most don’t expect to hear the grenade launcher shot followed by a grenade ricocheting off the walls and corridors right into them. This does require practice to be able to do this proficiently however.
Using Close Quarter weapons or melee weapons are a bit tricky as being close range risks you being EMPed by them followed by being pummeled, which is bad as then they have armor lock and a CQC/Melee Weapon. Noob Combo (EMP from Plasma Pistol followed by DMR/Magnum/Needle Rifle Headshot), as well as EMP and Pummel is also risky against those who spam it. You could throw a plasma grenade or two at their feet as well if you time their armor lock use well enough. Teamwork through using Needlers, Needle Rifles, Magnums, and/or DMRs also works well if you have a good team helping you out who know how to use precision weapons well. The second they come out of armor lock, their head will be spammed with headshots and supercombines for a quick kill.
