I’m curious what people think. Which Halo game BR is the best and why?
Halo 2
Halo 3 (Classic BR in Halo 5)
Halo 5 Pre-Tune
Halo 5 Post-Tune
For me it’s the Halo 5 Post-Tune BR. It has a decent spread, which prevents people from sniping you in four shots from across the map. It also has a really nice “feel” to it, which makes the game feel smooth and competitive. The Halo 5 version also really seems to be on point with the sound design, I love it so much. I manage to out-shoot most people with it as well, which is likely another factor for my fondness. I know it’s not viable as a starter weapon with the advanced movement, which is why the sinlge-shot weapons have come into play (Magnum, DMR, Carbine, etc), but that’s not the point of this topic. Just want to see how everyone feels about the BR situation in the game, since it is by FAR my favorite Halo weapon to date (historically too).

Before the tuning stuff, the H5 (Sentinel) Battle Rifle was my preferred weapon. It felt just right and the Sentinel scope made it a beast in the first stages of a Warzone match. Nowadays, I’m hauling around the H2 Battle Rifle for its consistency and nostalgia.
Hate the current BR. I’ve ranted so much about all the reasons why they shouldn’t have touched it or at least not made major changes like they did. Right now, its only good for sniping across the map which is the exact opposite of what the intention of the tuning was. It is mathematically worse than every other precision weapon at close and mid range.
If you have it, the H2BR. Really cleans up in Warzone and Firefight.
Second best would be the H5BR with the Sentinel Sight and Laser Targeter. Range and accuracy are good strong points for this one.
To be honest I never use the br anymore. Before the br tune, the br was a good weapon. Now it is just outclassed by the magnum and the dmr. Both are more consistent and have better ttk’s. If I use the br, I would use the Halo 2 classic br.
The H2BR is by far the best. The look sound and feel is just awesome. I hate the H5BR and pretty much all it’s variants in warzone. The H5BR just doesn’t have a good sound or feel. It doesn’t seem like a burst fire rifle at all. It seems like you are firing a nail gun and not a rifle at all. The only H5BR I will really use is the extended mag version.
Seems like you’re basing part of your answer off of the most balanced instead of the best. I would rather have the pre-tune BR since it’s more OP than the post-tune version. Normally, I’d say the H2BR since it’s so OP, but I never liked the aiming with it. I’d probably either go with the BR with stabilizer jets so there’s no recoil or the one with a bayonet on it since it’s a one hit kill.
I like pre tune br, and halo 2 br. I know I am throwing a wish down a well, but I wish they had a permanent br starts playlist over pistols. Having such a good time with the H2 Br rotational playlist.
The H2 battle rifle. Especially the anniversary look.
The Halo 2 Br feels so much better when I use it in Warzone or arena when I pick it up

The pre-tuned and halo 2 br are the best ones the classic one and the post tuned br are the same thing with a different scope the don’t really compare as post tuned is harder to use than pre tuned
If I’m terms of how OP it is pre tune br was a beast. Just because it had to recoil and the spread was tighter. It was the weapon among all weapons
If you think the BR is the best weapon for killing post tune you gotta be crazy. It is inconsistent at best and it out gunned by magnums. It use to be a laser in Mid range and even long range battles but even pre tune the Halo 2 BR has always been king.
Halo 2 BR, to my knowledge, it’s the most powerful BR in the game. Plus, I love it’s design

After tuning, I pretty much only use the H2BR in Warzone. I don’t even use the DMR anymore.
