I simply cant bring myself to play that glorified sweat feast with how overly competitive it is. I mean every time I play even when im winning I feel either extremely bored, annoyed, or just plain exhausted after 1 or two games with the fact that no one gives you a break, calms down and just stop flying and jumping around the map like a full on -Yoink. Big team battle is ok but even there you can encounter somebody gripping their controller with all their might because of how slippery it is from the sweat. To tell the truth I enjoyed Halo Reach and Halo 4’s multiplayer/arena’s much better than the other halos with how casual they were. Im not saying Halo should be completely casual but it shouldn’t be completely competitive either. Im not some designer or knowledgable about any of this(which is obvious) bu there should be ways to cater to both sides and not just one or the other. Well either way arena sucks and I give up. Hopefully 6 wont be as disappointing as this.

I played the -Yoink- outta arena and occasionally Warzone till about SR 100… And it’s not that it’s more competitive than Warzone like everyone seems to make it… It just is very “equal” if u call it that… I see it one sided toward those who arent like high in skill… Some people r like then u should be better… Blah blah blah fact remains that if they wouldn’t sprint back to me while I’m still killing their mates nd my shields r still down then I would wreck constantly like u said no one gives u a second to recoup really… I can see how people can say that u should get use to it and what not but as competetive as I am I don’t feel the need to be constantly on edge it still is a video game… So I’m 121 now and I haven’t played but maybe two handfuls of arena games since 100 and I’m having more fun then I was playing arena… What makes arena not fun(broken record over here) is the sprint factor… Doesn’t to me seem to fit in competitively in Halo… Sure people coup and sorta flow with what happens with games nd a new skill set would come about, but to me it won’t ever be as competitive as it was in the past without the sprint factor…

No it’s not fun(arena) to me due to the fact that even people with no skill can die and come back to finish there team mates kill for them… And then the playlists are so damn old I don’t wanna keep getting ONYX in all the same playlists makes no sense… Ecspecially since I really only play SWAT and FFA alone which is how I play most of the time…

Arena is a blast. It has really done a good job of recapturing the fast gameplay that Halo 2 and 3 had. It can be enjoyable, frenetic, and awesome all at the same time. Sure, sometimes you end up on the losing end of a beatdown…but it’s quite enjoyable. Truth be told, I’m not the best, but I’m competitive (personality-wise) and enjoy the thrill of the game.
I agree, Doc. Arena is way too sweaty for me, although all of 4v4 Halo has fit that bill for me since about 2004, so what the heck do I know? I put a lot of it down to a faulty ranking system, or matchmaking that doesn’t pay enough attention to the ranking system, or both. At any rate, thank the Halo gods for Warzone.
The moment they started marketing it as a close-quarters hyper-competitive game they kind of lost me, no offense to the pro-gamers out there, its just Halo was alway nice to casuals except up to this game anyway.
