What's so bad about microtransactions?

I don’t get all the hate for it. I can understand if the purchases gave players an unfair advantage, but since it’ll probably just be cosmetic items, I don’t see why it’s a problem for some people. For example, Black Ops 2 has a bacon camo which can be bought. I’d buy that if it were available in Halo 4.

Why is this such an issue? Are some people worried that they’ll get distracted by all of the skins and armor pieces and they’ll get killed? Because if they are, that’s pretty dumb. :stuck_out_tongue:

Would you be happy with cosmetic microtransactions? Why or why not?

Because look at gears of war, the majority of skins cost 5$ a piece, and it isn’t even new skins, they are all skins that were shipped with the game, they are robbing you.

Micro-transactions give developers and publishers more reason to put less into the game, just so they can sell more “add-ons” after you already bought the game.

I wouldn’t consider those “microtransactions” then. 160MSP sounds like a reasonable price for extra skins, armor pieces, and maybe even new emblems or stances.

Idk, I personally wouldn’t be able to consider them “add-ons” since they don’t really add anything to the base game, more just providing extra customization.

The fact is they won’t be that cheap, regardless the content shipped with the disk shouldn’t be bought,

That’s why I put the quotes around the word add-ons  I for one am sick of the current DLC driven game industry. What happened to full-sized expansions like we saw in the last generation?

How do you know that whatever content would be available for purchase is already included on the disc? Not trying to start a big argument or anything, I’m just curious as to how you figure that it’s already on the disc.

I feel that 343i should do one big map pack, full of remade maps from past Halo titles, which are all chosen by the community. I would totally buy that!

As long as it isn’t “pay to win” there is nothing wrong with them.

Exactly lol, I’ve played plenty of MMO’s with microtransactions, and with those, it usually turns into “pay to win”. There’s nothing wrong with some extra customization options.

Because halo can’t add armor.

Tell me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Halo 3’s Recon armor unavailable to players for awhile? Then it was eventually added, via achievments. I know gaining armor from achievements and getting it from purchases are different, but those achievements were added after Halo 3 was released. Of course, it could have been available on the disc, but blocked off, so I could be wrong, but if not, it’s not impossible.

It was always on the disk.

> It was always on the disk.

I see. Alright then lol. Still, some weapon skins, stances, and emblems would be nice to have.

I always figured it was a priority thing that made most people mad. Like, there are SO MANY complaints about the game right now, a lot of them valid, and they start working on microtransactions.
As long as microtransactions aren’t made the priority, and as long as you can’t pay to win, I don’t care.

Considering that it’d probably just be cosmetic items, I’m betting it’d take no more than a few employees to do it, while the rest of the team works on tweaking and balancing the game.

I just don’t see any reason to pay for stuff that they could just as easily put in the game for free. I’d rather have to unlock them than pay for them.

When they completely destroy any integrity and quality art direction the game used to have for the sake of selling out..

When they release overpowered weapons that are mostly only available by purchasing them.

> I just don’t see any reason to pay for stuff that they could just as easily put in the game for free. I’d rather have to unlock them than pay for them.

I honestly would like that too. Perhaps have both options available. Microtransactions for those who don’t want to or aren’t good enough to get certain skins, and have special skins available only for those who meet certain criteria. Also, there should be some unlockable skins that can ONLY be acquired through unlocking them, not through purchases.
