What's really hurting the player retention

i think there are all the biggest culprit from the game.
its not only about the lack of maps only its more with then all.
if you have lot of maps and less playlist’s then its still not good at all.
to have a good balance like other halo game’s got was a lot off maps to play on and at the same a lot off playlist’s to choose out from between ranked and social.

but halo MCC and halo 5 get no new content at all any more so why is it still competing with both off then?
if there was no lack of maps and playlist’s then there was no competing at all since only halo infinite gets new content and halo MCC and halo 5 not more.

Happy to see the addition of social slayer with different game types. Sadly a lot of fiesta though.

Hit the nail on the head. My friends only play halo bc I am the only person who still does. They have all given up hope due to the points you mention. I am too stubborn to give up on Halo, as I have been with it for far too long now and love it.

A prime example: I played with my friends in a party of 3. I wanted to add a fourth being someone we just played a game with, I tried clicking on their name from the scoreboard, nope. tried going to recent players, nope. At that point, I gave up. I legit think I would have to open up the xbox app and find them via that. WAY too cumbersome. I should be able to click on someone’s name from the scoreboard and block them, invite them, view their profile, mute them, view their fileshare, and/or invite them to my party/fireteam.

In addition to the great points you mentioned, bring back proximity chat and the ability to type to everyone, your team, your fireteam. These aren’t new concepts, just look back at previous halos and carryover.

Lastly, harping on gamefeel. Something is just off with melees. Between the sporadic lunges and registerations to the lack of 1 for 1 exchanges. No idea technically what has changed, but it feels much different than previous halos. Plus, my spartan seems to refuse to auto climb walls, lol.

If I can help explain/test in any way 343, let me know. Anything to make the game better and revive my halo love.

Personally for me it’s the aiming system, it plays nothing like how previous titles did and I feel this is why most people have left the game. It’s incredibly frustrating, and I don’t think a lot of people know that the aiming in this game is messed.

Do people still play H5? I wouldve thought the population had died down by now

Huh. I’m in the minority then. I think the aiming having less assist and weapons having less bullet magnetism is good, but I absolutely hate the zoom feature for weapons like the Sidekick. As well as the new leaked weapon that’s a neutered DMR. It’s useless.

Frankly they should get rid of ADS entirely. I mean it’s technically not, but it’s awful. The only weapons with zoom should be anything with a scope. If it doesn’t have a scope, why have it. The BR, Commando, Sniper, Stalker and Shock Rifle, and the Banished Sniper all should get the zoom. Rocket too. Autos, Sidekick, just remove entirely.

Except there actually isn’t less aim assist, instead trying to make small aiming adjustments with your right stick basically kicks out your aim assist and you start over aiming, where as if you use your left stick to stay on target aim assist will basically aim for you. There’s people here that can explain it a lot better but the aiming system in this game is nothing like previous titles.

I think it depends on the weapon and more importantly the way magnetism and AA function in the game.

Like previously had 2 forms of Aim assist and 2 types of magnetism for projectiles as well as other oddities that allowed for a far greater depth of how weapons could handle rather than a set scale for aim assist and magnetism as universal traits.
Its why halo feels so distinctive when compared to say cod 2 or 4 or half life on consoles.

SBMM. I worked a 14 hour shift today, came home to throw a couple of social team slayer games on. I am high diamond/ low onyx. Here are the opposition for the four matches of ‘social’ team slayer games tonight.

Onyx 2000

Onyx 1500
Onyx 1500

I was really tired, barely concentrating, and I got ABSOLUTELY destroyed game after game because funny enough I have to be at my peak focus to compete with people at my peak skill level. Who would have thought?

This is toxic and this has made me never want to pick up a controller in this game again. The lack of content hasn’t even done that to me. And with mw2 on Friday I’m going to have to give that a go instead. Sbmm is toxic and is ruining social game modes. The above is as bad as ranked. And in fact, in ranked I wouldn’t get onyx 2000s in my games, so it is actually even worse.

You will still get some liars coming on here saying that sbmm is loose. Check my halo tracker for tonight to prove the above if you don’t believe me.

Funny. When I glanced down your list the person I felt the most sympathy for was for the D2.

They were just trying to chill and got thrown to the wolves.

Most people seem to be able to chill and have fun in Social. Why is that (some) Onyx players have so much trouble?

Granted the 2000 player sticks out like a sore thumb. But what was their MMR in Social? Did they get white line fever - or were they just mucking around with mates?

SBMM is great. It doesn’t seem to sit well with competitive Onyx players and streamers. But why should the rest of the community change tack for a proportion of a small percentage of players.

The onus is on you to play Social at the level you want to chill at. Stop playing at your peak level and let your social MMR drop. This will then attract lobbies that are a little less intense.

The trick, of course, is that you can’t then up the ante and go on Onyx level rampage and then wonder why your MMR suddenly goes up.

#1 problem has been desync which has only gotten worse. Hopefully this actually gets addressed and fully fixed in the next couple months.

Yep desync.

And content dribble.

Forge will hopefully save the day with content and social game options.

Smurf account and make the stats trash to really cement its rank

I cant play CTF by default in matchmaking

Or he could play a Smurf account and get around sbmm for a bit like in h5 social = I’m not on my main

Obviously people are going to have different views on what is a good game, or movie, or artwork, whatever, my view though, this game is trash, that’s why the majority of people don’t play it, or come back to it.

You can’t play a game properly if one day it plays OK, and then for three days solid there’s a massive reduction in hit detection, or you’re still fazing through players when you’re trying to melee them, for me that equates to no fun. People say the lack of maps aren’t the problem, well that would be the case if the maps we had were half decent, but in my view, the maps are trash.

And another thing, a year into release, and the UI still doesn’t load properly, but the store UI loads fast and is responsive, that alone informs me where their priorities are, and it’s disgusting.

This whole game revolves around, buy stuff, buy stuff, buy stuff, meanwhile addressing and fixing the problems in the game are not being taken seriously, but we are constantly reminded that the health of their employees comes first, and so don’t get on their case about releasing a bad product, the game is not bad, the fans are.

As 343 has stated, it’s the fans of Halo that are the problem, that’s why they need a whole new player base, preferably one that does not care about quality, and most of the fun is derived from buying cosmetics.

I don’t think it’s working out the way they intended, because they are unable to even retain the new player base, but hey, once the COD fans get their BR, everything Halo will fade away. Just a reminder, remember the TV series, can you say generic, that’s where this game franchise is headed, the big garbage pile of generic games, just pick one, there are all the same.

It would be nice if it was, but I think we all know deep down that it won’t be :disappointed: I think we would be lucky if it was fixed in the next few years from now to be honest.

I’m my opinion, and I hate to say it… but the way to get something like that fixed, especially in a timely matter… Remember this game’s almost a year old now and there’s been pretty much ZERO progress on this along with a lot of other issues… is for people to complete stop playing the game. Do not support it at all. Maybe then some things will happen.

This is hard for me to say a I’ve been playing Halo since CE came out, so for a very long time! And this is the first Halo game that I haven’t been playing that much because of all the ongoing issues with the game and 90% of my friends have quit ENTIRELY! I like the gameplay…a lot actually (though player collision really needs to be in like the previous halos!!) but I’m older now and I don’t have 8 hours a day to play video games… unfortunately  I need to be more selective with my time and I’m not going to put up with issues like desync, when I can play other games that don’t have these issues. And I imagine a lot of other people are doing the same thing.

We’ll see what happens but I honestly don’t Have a lot of hope that the winter update is going to change that much. Yeah forge is just coming but without custom browser it’s kind of useless in my opinion, Yeah the campaign features are nice and long overdue!!! (Can’t even replay a mission till now, jokes!!) but local co-op play is non-existent And for me that was a big thing (A firefight mode like ODST would be nice as well but you know why would they put that in when people have only wanted it since… ODST ) and I don’t really care about online co-op too much, but still a good feature, though I don’t really like how it’s implemented… The new maps are cool but it’s two maps in basically a year and their forge maps to my understanding which I’m not saying that means they’re bad or anything but are they going to have the polish that a developer map going to have? Probably not… And all the cosmetic stuff, I could care less about And I hate the fact I have to look at all the silliness and there’s no toggle like MCC and I’m certainly not spending money on the color!! Like red or some crap like this. Absolutely stupid!!

Anyways I digress here… Apologies for the little bit of a rant there and for being off topic a bit. It just really frustrates me what Halo has become and it makes me legitimately sad

My problem with co-op, as has been stated many times, is why no matchmaking??? so I can just jump in and play some campaign with other people. Co-op is useless for me. Just being pessimistic here, but I would imaging co-op will arrive broken and ultimately be dropped shortly after, because they will never fix it, because you know, the health of their workforce and all.

So eventually they will end up doing the one thing they are very good at, just cancel it, remove it, so they can prioritize the store, oh, I mean some other part of the game.
