I know this wont be a popular opinion but to me the best of Halo was objective games. The very long objective games, where as long as you held a flag or a bomb the game would continue. I know there were plenty of people that got frustrated by a better team that just held onto the ball and killed you, but some of my favorite games of Halo were beating kids that did stuff like that.
What was better then a a flag stand off on COAG? Waiting for a hog to spawn so you and your team could drive in and try to get that bomb armed.
To me those were quintessential Halo games, and ever since Halo 2 they’ve dissapeared from the game.
I’ll await my tougne lashing now. Please be gentle.
NO.
NOPE.
Sorry but this is as bad as the guy who said spawn killer was a great idea and players should always spawn in the same place.
Of all the GOOD things in Halo 2 you picked one of the BAD things.
Why not clans?
Why not Halo2 styles territory (still the best)
Why not the general grade of Maps.
Camping an objective with a purpose just to rack up kills or piss people off to quitting is not a good idea. Thats like saying “Well you know if your in a bigger Party your going to do more damage then players going in Alone LOLOLOL SO MUCH FUN”
Agreed. It should have a playlist. Call it “Hardcore objective” or something lol.
Idk For me it was great working as a team to overcome people who thought camping with the objective was fun.
Nope. This may have worked in Halo 2, but nowadays it’ll produce nothing but teams of XX PR0SN1P3 XX players holding the objective and padding out their stats by spawn-trapping randoms.
I’ve always wanted to have a gametype added to BTB called “Marathon,” which would basically be Heavies with a thirty-minute time limit and score to maybe 300. It would take place on the largest map available, like if all of Forgeworld were the map. Huge amounts of vehicles, huge amounts of power weapons, lots of aerial battles as well. Just a good time.
How many people would actually want to play this? Me, and maybe some others who really love a good game of Heavies. How bad would the lag be? Depends.
One thing from Halo 2 I miss is infinite sudden death. It wasn’t just holding the objective but also the ‘contesting’ by being close to it.
The games were so intense. One H2 moment that I’ve always remembered is a game of BTB. I was playing with my BTB clan, we were pretty well organised. (I peaked at level 35 or 36 in BTB Skirmish, just had to throw that in there! Ha! Our highest guy was 38 - these ranks were pretty high in Halo 2)
Anyway, it was Flag on Headlong, we were defending. The flag was at our base, the timer counted down to zero. SUDDEN DEATH.
Okay, we thought, someone is clearly contesting the flag so where is he? 20 seconds later.
‘Anyone found him?’
‘Nope’
1 minute later, we start getting hectic, 2 minutes later, ‘WHERE IS HE?’ 4 minutes, WHERE THE F IS HE? 5 then 10 MINUTES! We finally found him whilst defending from the other team. So intense, so fun. I miss that.
But it was that intensity, that last ditch effort, that one last opportunity and when your successful after a sudden death, man was it an awesome feeling.

I hate to say it, but you’re probably right. They should at least give it us as an option in customs.
Yah have always loved objective, especially H2
Fast kill times. Fast shield recharge. Great Maps. Good player movement and base speed. Inertia based objective melee kills. MM that actually worked to provide closely skilled games. Clans. Nothing artificial slowed down the pace of the game. And yes, Objective playlist was great.
I miss Halo2.
