When Halo: CE for the PC came out back in 2001. There was no ranking system at all. That game got played a -Yoink- ton. COD has had no proper ranking system besides the `1-80 system which even if you lost you got xp which is like Reach, yet it has the presitge system but the only bad thing is that everything gets reset. MW2 and MW3 always have at least 1-3 million playing. Halo 2 had no system like Halo 3 had, yes it had the 1-50 but didn’t have the Marine rank structure. That was brought in Halo 3. Then Reach lost the 1-50 and people think Halo 4 is going the same route…well it’s not.
You didn’t have a rank in Halo 3 like you had in Halo 2. Now you don’t have a rank in Halo 4, just a number. Wait…
> SR 50
That’s what you have. You didn’t have a rank next to your name in Halo 2, but just a symbol. You had no 5 Star General rank in Halo 2 but it was in Halo 3. Then you just had a simple little icon next to your name in Halo: Reach. You do have a number next to your name in Halo 4, but it’s not like the number you had in Halo 3. People bash, insult and threaten 343 with canceling their pre-orders. But if the abused 1-50 system came back. Tell me that you wouldn’t cheat or boost to get your 50 back. Because you straight up know that you would. Players would do the same -Yoinking!- thing (excuse my language) in Halo 4 with the 1-50 that they did in Halo 3. It does not make sense for an abused system to return if 343 knows and we know without a doubt it’ll get abused again. Would you bring back an abused system to your game knowing that players would just abuse it all over again? This is a concept that some of this community cannot grasp and others can.
However there was no mention of the rank system Frank talked about on the stream. Maybe there will be a mention of it in the bulletin tonight, I don’t know. But regardless my pre-order still stands, and I’m gonna enjoy Halo, ranking system or no ranking system.

I’m not trying to shut down peoples arguements. I’m trying however to put a point across that some of this community cannot grasp.
Nice pic but don’t need it. A lot of my friends were 50’s which I played with back in the Halo 3 days. It didn’t take me 4 years just to learn how much people abused the system.
Some people are not content on just knowing that they are better then the team they just played. They need a way of showing everyone how good they are.
> > I wouldnt need to cheat to get a high rank, and they should fix the exploits, not get rid of it because they are too lazy to.
>
> If Bungie was able to fix the exploits. You think they would have in the 3 years it took them to make Halo: Reach?
There are two exploits to the halo 3 ranks, selling and xp boosting
Xp boosting can be fixed by making the system look at the xp that you have earned all together even if you lost it, so even tho you currently have 0 xp but have earned 300 all together ever it will see the 300
Selling just enforce it like they are on youtube leaks now, look for people selling, if found perma band all accounts and xbox’s the person has, then it becomes non profitable and die out.

first: halo CE wasnt xbox live, halo 2 started the revolution of online gaming.
second: halo 2 and halo 3 ranking where both visible
third: you dont have to bring back 1-50 thats not what people are mad about. they are mad that there is no visible ranking system period.
isible ranking is first a way to gauge yourself as a player, you can see yourself getting better by rising in the ranks, second its a incentive to play your hardest, to try, to communicate with your team, and to win. It is creates harder, more competitive matches because both you and the other team have something to lose, or something to gain.
With out this visible gauge its going to be another halo reach where some people try, some people don’t, some people screw around and some people sit in the corner eating a sandwich. So now you have a completely inaccurate account of everyone’s actual skill and it tries to match u up with this invisible number. random skills vs random skills. Sound familiar? if you thinking of halo reach you are correct.
It also elongates the playability of the game. I still to this day play halo 3. because matchmaking is fun, competative and there is something to lose and gain with each game.

they could find a way if they tried. even so why should i care if people exp boost or sell accounts. it doesnt effect me? And if people arent trying to cheat, its not worthy to be called a competitive game
Dude people cheat on every system i got banned for selling 10th prestige in mw2 people cheat no matter if its a progression or a skilled 1 to 50 i had a friend that was making good money off 10th prestige sells who cares if people are dumb enough to buy them i never got my 50 in 3 i got a 45 proud of my 45 worked hard i played years trying to rank up some of the best moments in my life intense play with my friends working to a common goal why take that away from me and plenty others because some kids cheat they can buy if they want wont mean anything when they play and we all can tell

Just as a fyi he said halo ce for the pc not the xbox one
Visible ranking is like the video game version of standing around with your spartan bits out, claiming “My Yoink! is bigger than yours!”. We don’t need that to enjoy multiplayer.
I play with a clan against other clans, so the incentive to win is there regardless of childish rank systems.
People will always find a way to cheat. But why penalize people that want to play the right way and work for their rank?
It’s just like gun control. Criminals are going to get the guns no matter what, why take the right from a hunter or anyone that wants to feel safe at home. My point being is there will always be those cheaters.

It ruins the online experience for everyone else. You’d get a 50 that you think its a 50 when really it’s a damn 16 in Halo 3. That’s not what I call competitive.
