Ok, so Master Chief’s been asleep for 5 years since Halo 3 (2558). What do you think’s happened since all that with Humanity, and all those other races (ie the Sangheili, San 'Shyuum, Jiralhanae, Kig-Yar, Unggoy, Lekgolo, and Yanme’e)?
phew… the title lead me to believe this was another rage thread. Good question. I know that the humans wanted their unconventional allies the elites to be punished for the destruction of all of humanities colonies and this has lead to increasing tension between the two races
The Kig-Yar have always been pirates. Even during the human/covy war there were Kig-Yar pirates who traded weapons with human rebels. They could have returned to their life of piracy. However it is most likely that they formed a new alliance with the elites.
The San 'Shyuum escaped into an unexplored area of the galaxy.
The Jiralhanae ended up fighting each other and now their planet lies in disarray.
The Unggoy are cowards and after the brutes lost control of their home world (due to fighting each other) they allied with the elites out of fear and for security.
The Lekgolo became split in the internal covy war. After the war they all allied with the elites (I think).
And I don’t know what happened to the Yanme’e.
They took a “5”.

The only true Covenant remnants would be the Loyalists, controlled by Brutes and Prophets, they were never allies. Whatever this Elite-led deal is I just can’t bring myself to call the Covenant.

Every remaining human is enslaved by the UNSC and used to create that gigantic ship in record time for our multiplayer needs.

OT: Karen Traviss’ novel Glasslands tells of some advents a few months after the war. Her next book with further explain what is happening. I look forward to have some questions answered.
I think another big question is what happened to Thel 'Vadam (The Arbiter) and his ship? In the end of Halo 3 they were headed home…I think one of the possibilities is another Sangheili rebellion is who you are fighting in Halo 4, but that couldn’t explain the Hunters…

Only elites helped us during the war. And I wouldn’t call them the covenant.
