Since by now Halo 4 is finished, I was wondering about which project was going to be the next. Of course, part of the 343Industries team will work on DLCs for Halo 4, but what will the remaining part of the team work on? As a PC gamer, I hope they’ll consider once for all to port new Halo games to PC such as Halo 3 or Halo Reach instead of rushing headlong into Halo 5.
What do you think?
Is there any hint or news about that?

With the game engine in place and the stories for all three games laid out already I imagine that will save them production time later when it come time for H5 and H6 so they might have something surprising up their sleeve for the spare time they have.
I too am a crossover PC gamer and I only got an xbox to play Halo games, so I’m hoping they’ll do a re release of at least H2 to go along with CEA, but who knows.
What I really wonder is if Halo will carry on indefinitely Like Final Fantasy or those Kung Fu games with more and more sequels, I think that would be really cool if they could keep the stories interesting.
Plus Microsoft donates big bucks to charities under the radar, so I don’t mind giving them my money.
I believe they are going to jump straight into the development of Halo 4 next. I could imagine they have (or will soon(ish) have) a small team doing some prototypes while the rest of the team works on Halo 4 DLC and the like. I doubt we will see any spin-offs or smaller projects during the development of Halo 5. As nice as a Halo 2 remake might sound, it really doesn’t make sense. People liked it for the multiplayer. That multiplayer wouldn’t be the same if it was remade. There really isn’t any excuse for it either.

They will definitely need to work a lot on some new technology for Halo 5. Probably more than they did for Halo 4 as Halo 4 was only a game made for the same hardware as Halo 3 and Reach, with the same limitations and capabilities. Developing a game for next gen (for which Halo 5 most likely will be made) hardware would mean they have to rethink how they build the game with different limitations and new potential capabilities. If anything, Halo 5 will be much more technologically tasking than Halo 4 was.
They won’t port the games to PC. They’ve said that several times already. The PC ports of Halo CE and Halo 2 also didn’t make that much money, so I’m sure Microsoft doesn’t want to take that risk again in the fear of losing money.
Since Halo 4 just came out, they’re probably monitoring it and working on spartan ops/weekly updates/getting the waypoint glitches fixed/etc instead of working on Halo 5.

I forgot about the next gen. of consoles, but then again the next generation will be able to back date and handle the current software so maybe they won’t need to put so much effort into subsequent games. I think these companies do a lot of research that is ahead of it’s time and their ability to market so they have a lot that they can’t sell yet and want to in the future.
