It needs to be based on Game Wins… not K/D, or medals, or playtime.
it should be based on K/D/A, win lose as well as certain medals and hit percentage and objectives caught, stolen, and stopped.
I think that it should be more team focused.
What made halo so great online was the true skill 1-50 ranking system, thats just a FACT. Reach has had no where near as much success as halo 2 or halo 3 and thats why reach is living in the shadows of COD and even gears…

Regardless, I agree that parameters other than the kill/death ratio should be taken into account. I particularly like BurstingBox478’s suggestion that ranking be more team focussed, although I’m not sure how that would work. Whatever the system, I hope it’s no longer one that simply rewards those people who take the most days off work or school.
Yeah winloss seems the way to go mixed in with other ways.

Perhaps I was taking the remark too seriously. This whole sprint debacle has made me extra sensitive towards posts in which people try to claim opinions as fact. At any rate, I realise that you were merely using the word as a rhetorical device, and I apologise for correcting you.
It really doesn’t matter what ranking system they put in(I’m hoping for 1-50) because some one will find a way to abuse it. The arena system was and is abused just as much as the 1-50, and the credit system in Reach is abused even more. Hell people sell accounts that are inheritors for money all the time.
I think the only system that has ever been partially good was that of Halo 2, and for me I hope that is the direction 343 is going with it.

I think adding in medals and objectives is bad and will be abused. For instance if you add in objectives stolen, then you will have idiots throwing themselves right at the objective because it could help them rank up. When in fact some of the dumbest players in the game are the ones who just blindly rush the objective.

I agree, in Reach teamwork was lost to only trying to do good for yourself. I always got the team that didn’t care for win or lose, as long as they had a positive K/D.
Bring back TEAMWORK with a W/L ranking system!
Halo 3 ranking system was perfect. people played to win and not for their own personal K/D.
And no, I wasn’t a 5 star general. I had a mere high skill of 19, but I like the fact that I was well matched most of the time and had good, fair games.
I think it should be based on skill, and not experience. Don’t you think? Encourage people to play better instead of all day?
Rank Playlist should be based off of Wins and Losses…
It’s that simple…
Win you go up a rank
Lose you go down a rank
In rank it’s about winning, trying your hardest, gun skill and teamwork…stats should not and should never apply to Rank
K/D/A should not contribute to rank, this was done already when Arena was Ratings based and that was massively flawed, it does not promote teamwork it simply turns a 4v4 Team Slayer into a FFA since you are not just competing against the opposing team but also your own team mates so yet again betrayal for power weapons, camping to preserve K/D and refusing to help your team-mates will be rife.
No matter what the ranking system will be like, it should be W/L based as that is quite simply the only incentive to actually win the game. In addition i really do not want to see divisions and seasons again, basically anything that is taken from Arena as it simply does not work, as its largely quantity over quality, why punish people who cannot play as much as others?
At least with 1-50 you had multiple playlists and your rank was where you last left it at, it didnt drop simply because you could not play for a few days.
1-50 was not perfect i admit but it was far superior to Arena and so i hope they build off that, personally i would like something eerily similar to 1-50 in Halo 4 ;)but whatever the ranking system is like for Halo 4, i really pray it does not take anything from Arena.
yeah, win/loss + objective interaction seems to be the best way to go,
having K/D play a part will just encourage people to not play the objective and just kill farm(KOTH >_<!)

Anyways yeah 1-50 playlists based solely on wins. cR system for the overall “rank” so all the casual kiddies can get their inheritor or whatever.
It should be based on K/D/A and W/L in Slayer gametypes, Objectives Scored and W/L in Objective gametypes.
Whatever it is, it needs to be universal.
