Whatever happened to trash talking on XBL?

Why don’t people talk trash or simply just talk on XBL anymore in Halo? Remember the good old days of Halo 2 where everybody had mic’s and would talk?

I remember when you were able to talk trash to people while searching in Team Training or unranked games? This feature has been eventually taken out ever since Halo 3 and I think it should come back. lol I don’t know about you guys but I found it to be a quite amusing and fun experience that matchmaking in Halo has lacked ever since.

Trash Talking is OK as long as you don’t cross the line.

Trash talking is main reason I no longer use my headset.

they are thinking bout teamwork and plans, or are lone-wolfs, by the way welcome to the waypoint forums

> Trash Talking is OK as long as you don’t cross the line.

Yeah I totally agree with you lol… I dont really like when people exceed trash talking to the point where there making oblivious racial slurs or what not… But in general I find listening to people talking trash while loading a game is really entertaining :stuck_out_tongue: Especially in Big Team Battle!

> they are thinking bout teamwork and plans, or are lone-wolfs, by the way welcome to the waypoint forums

Yeah they really should start to promote teamwork in matchmaking. People should start to use their mic’s and talk to their team-mates during a game. Btw thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

Party chat happened, that’s what

> People taking trashtalk too far happened, that’s what

Let me fix that.

I use to but I don’t bother any more to many stupid kids.if I’m with friends I will use my mic.

I know what your saying, Spheric!
Why does people lose interest in using the mic? It’s what makes the games that much more fun.

My biggest problem with halo 3 and Reach is that they removed the beloved proximity-chat solution from halo 2!! Whyy?? It was BRILIANT fun! It was the thing that made Infection popular!
And it also kept people from spamming out the audio channels.

Nowadays people who talk just get muted by everybody else for using the channel >:( Bad habits define the community.

Proximity chat is something that gives a surprisingly good feel of space in a game. This is valuable characteristics.

Have any of you guys ever experienced the proximity chat in Reach?? It’s a rare, but amazing experience!

I’d say it was a mix of both. The problem would be Microsoft’s fault as well as the communities.

Some folks wouldn’t stop trash talking, and Microsoft just made it worse by adding Party Chats.

Not that I’m complaining. If anyone on these Forums has played with me they know I swear quite a lot when I die…even if it’s my own fault. Ragemode…it’ll getcha.

Maybe people finally grew up. I wouldn’t know since I always talk in party chat or don’t have my mic plugged because I don’t care for:

Listening to idiots blasting music through their mic
Doing the above + Singing
Trash talk in general
Complaining about everything, teammates, maps etc.
Talking to their friend next to them.
Swearing like a sailor everytime they die.

> Have any of you guys ever experienced the proximity chat in Reach?? It’s a rare, but amazing experience!

Yes it’s a good way of knowing the enemy is nearby.

Well, whenever I play slayer I go and play for relaxing (which is a lot, 590 games of TS), but anyway I don’t enjoy people talking in the game chat channel unless I play battlefield.

And probably like stated above me I don’t like having people do the following:

  1. Blast music
  2. Sing
  3. Trash talk ( and get whooped by me later  )
  4. Outside conversations ( usually mom)
  5. Kidz, they bother me very much.

Trash talking is why one of the reasons I mute people! People who trash-talk are annoying and only do it because they know they can’t be hurt in real life. So they take that chance to rude Yoink! Its just plain rude and should only be done when people deserve it (which is hardly ever)

Anyone with a mic in reach is usually talkin -Yoink-, the real question, where’d the teammates all go? Try asking your team for a strategy in ctf, “capture the flag idiot” is all you’ll get, as opposed to planning a mongoose or power weapon rush

nobody uses there mic anymore because of the massive amount of preteens and people under 17 who act stupid 24/7 over the headset. Im not saying everyone or even the majority of people in that age group are all acting that way, but enough so that its unenjoyable. For me anyway.

Whoopsie double post.

I think that peolpe will start using their mics again if proximity chat returns good, like in halo2.

Yeah!
You mean that as a good thing, right?
Using the proximity chat as well as the radar makes you feel like a predator when hunting the noobs out!! >:D

1: Party Chat
2: People have become more and more individualistic online. In H2 there was a sense of a community, from H3 onwards people were to busy playing for their K/D other “skill” crap etc. There was no more sense of a community.

It’s a shamre really. Without proper communication, it is almost no fun to play BTB or any of the objectives…
