Whatever happened to Social Slayer?

I got to thinking the other day that 343 gave us what we wanted, a social slayer playlist.

However we only got it for like a month or two. Since then, it’s been rotational and most of the time it’s gimmicky. Like for example Shotty Snipers or that Req card Fiesta. Those were fun game modes, but If I want to play Slayer or Arena on the Arena maps then I have one option: Ranked Slayer or Arena playlists. This really isn’t ideal because playing Ranked Arena solo is ineffective. It forces me to play another game until my friends are online. How come Infection and Grifball get permanent fixtures? I know that many people enjoy them, but it’s quite ridiculous that they get the love of a permanent playlist but Arena or Slayer, something so precious to the Halo experience, does not.

I’m really not trying to rant here, I feel that this is a valid concern. Thanks for trying 343 but I feel that they only half delivered on this one.

Side Question: Do social playlist K/D’s count toward your record? Idk if they do or not. I’d like to hear your opinions on this. Personally, I think that they shouldn’t. The whole point of a social playlist is no pressure fun right? Whenever I go into social I do it when I simply don’t care about winning or losing.

fyi, fiesta is slayer, shotty/snipes is slayer.

what difference would playing ranked vs social do for a solo player? they are the same playlist, hence why there is no social playlist.

don’t care about your rank, and it’s just as social as social slayer would beyou answered your own question

“those were fun modes”

infection and griffball get permanent game modes, because they weren’t in the game all at, and they play completely different then arena game modes.

and yes, ALL social gametypes (infection/griffball/ and whatever the social playlist is for the week) count towards your record!, also, social if i remember correctly, at least in halo3, had it’s own ranking system and stats to track based on win lose as well. i was a lieutenant in ffa, sounds like a ranking system to me

Social ranks and skill ranks are two completely different things, genius. I’m currently SR 144, that doesn’t make me a Champion in Social Doubles. And social playlists have drastically different matching parameters than ranked, or they SHOULD. In this game, however, all they do is hide the rank and call it social, which is part of the problem.

no, you “idiot” HALO 3. had a literally SOCIAL RANK. that was different from the ranked number system -.- i was a 12 in swat, and a lieutenant in free for all,

Edit: yeah i totally different search parameter, you mean like matching you up with a team of champions, just because F it it’s social? because that is SO much better then hidden rank. you can’t gain, or lose something you can’t see, even if they do find you a fair as possiable match because of your hidden rank, you have no idea what rank you or your enemies are, they are just simply better then you, or worst then you. why people think social is " HUR DUR I AM NOT GOING TO TRY BECAUSE SOCIAL" is silly.

Yes. I’m aware. And the only real difference between that and the current “Spartan Rank” system is that H3 social rank was playlist specific. Both are increased by simply playing the game, not by winning. So, my point still stands and yours is still stupid.

Why did you put idiot in quotes? lol.

that is not true, you rank went up for winning, while it did not go down when you lose.

so no it didn’t work just like “spartan Rank” does now.

because you still had to WIN, to rank up.

your spartan rank, goes up no matter if you win or lose.

that was not the case for halo 3’s social aspect.
