Whatever happened to nameplates?

Do you remember the nameplates? They were introduced in Halo 2 & could also be found in Halo 3 & Halo: Reach. From what I’ve understood they’ve been removed, or at least they’re no longer availible for editing. You can’t get access to them. Will they ever be brought back? I actually kind of liked those things.

Both Bungie and 343 both stated that the nameplates (along with many other things such as the blue flames in Halo Reach) would not be supported after the transition from Bungie to 343.

Too bad 343 didn’t bring those over in the transition. But I understand why they didn’t. It was a Bungie thing not a 343 thing. I really liked the Nameplates though. I liked showing off my ‘HALO’ and Seventh Column nameplates in Reach and Halo 3. Whenever I saw another ‘HALO’ I knew they were there from the beginning. And whenever I saw Seventh Column, I knew they were part of B.net. I hope 343 comes up with something similar in future games. I would totally rock a ‘WAYPOINT’ nameplate if they had one.

I don’t see the need for nameplates.
I mean, it’s just a symbol that goes along your name…
Why boast about it?

Nameplates were fun in the pre-game lobby setup of H3/Reach, but Halo 4 introduced player cards so they wouldn’t really be applicable.

I liked the stances in Halo 4 but they could have lived side-by-side with the nameplates because Halo 4’s player cards were a horribly designed UI.

My ideal Halo 5: all the teams lined up with custom nameplates. Selecting the nameplates shows that Spartan’s stance. The best of both worlds.

Aha, okay. I haven’t been that active in the Halo series overall since ODST, so I’ve had no clues basically of what’s been going on.

Yeah, I agree. Even though I liked them I’m not that bothered about that they left them behind. I would just have liked to change my Reach nameplate to Halo 2. I bought it recently and it was so awesome! Way over expectations. The best Halo game, in my opinion.
