Whatever happened to enemy marking in multiplayer?

A few updates ago it was said that 343 had added a feature where you could press up on the D-Pad to mark enemies similar to the campaign.

If you press up, you actually get a three not ping but I can’t tell if there’s an actual visual element.

Anyone have any answers?

You don’t spot enemies, you notify your teammates of your location.

And it is a terrible system. Just use a mic
