whatever happened to BTB???

I think what allot of people complain about here on the forums is halo 5 feeling all around to sweaty an punishing. this is obvious in arena but let me make an observation about WZ. in wz when you take a vehicle or power weapon out it’s your problem! it’s your baby essentially. you take it out an pray to the RNG gods it isn’t instantly lost in the chaos of the battle.

(except for the hogs but you need a teamate or they’re just a mobile turret an a free vehicle to anyone with a BR) I dunno about you guys but I’m under allot of pressure to do good in WZ so the things I took out for that game aren’t wasted overall or on a individual level (IE spawn killed, some guy camps outside the vehicle bay etc) overall I feel like allot of people really really hate it when something they take out (something of they’re mind you, that they only have a limited number of in the first place) gets instantly destroyed by a spartan laser or your power weapon is stolen because of the sniper you can’t even see camping somewhere you don’t even know…

it feels really cheap to just get your -Yoink- stolen or destroyed before you use it. enter pre halo 5 btb. BTB was a vehicle fest filled with stuff for everyone. it was the WZ before warzone almost. it was chaotic an fun an had tons of vehicles an simple maps that were simple to play on. but I feel like halo 5 tried to re-invent BTB using warzone as a scapegoat. almost to say: we don’t need you. we have something new an better! but now-a-days? halo 5’s btb feels more like 8 man slayer than true raw BTB. casual halo pretty much lived an breathed BTB.(that an all the missing MIA minigames) back in halo 4 the one most highly populated modes even towards the end of it’s lifespan was BTB. I dunno how else to say it but why in btb is there NO map with a scorpion? (the face of BTB) the scorpion they did have was on a god awful map an had to be replaced because it was pretty damn useless not because of spartan abilities but because the map gave players almost a thousand ways to counter the thing turning it into a big tin can death trap. now compare this to the simplicity of blood gulch! one doesn’t simply destroy the scorp so easily!

in old big team battle ANYONE could get in a vehicle an wreck even if they sucked at halo otherwise. now just to get a scorpion you have to GRIND. otherwise you’ll never get to play in one outside of forge an customs. in btb currently they have ghosts hogs an gungeese with few exceptions. I see allot of players never even bother with those things. while they provide a pretty good advantage the layout of the map the amount of power weapons spread about like candy an the bullet magnetism stacks the odds against these vehicles doing what they’re meant to do. (them being paper thin an crumpling to teamfire doesn’t help either) they’re put there to give players a good time!

most BTB maps are centered around not being in vehicles with only small raceway-like parts for vehicles. honestly there are a few btb maps that would almost fit well in COD they’re so un-halo.

so what I’m saying is I think that if you want halo 5 to feel more casual change BTB or make BTB classic or BTB turbo where there’s a more old btb chaotic style feel to it. an also if you could add the phaeton that’d be neat. you’d think btb would be just the perfect place to show off 343’s newest vehicle creations. honestly the only reason 343 isn’t doing this is to drive up WZ pop an req sales…

They need to bring BTB Heavies back. There aren’t enough vehicles like the scorpion. Is there even a scorpion in BTB?

I’ve notice I’ve been getting the same 4 map rotation. It’s like they took the rest out.

There’s no scorpions. The mantis is on fracture but that map is pretty small.

I honestly feel like they devalued BTB on purpose to push players into WZ and WZA to get their fix of vehicular battle, and target-rich environments.

BTB is fun in my opinion, however I feel like the Valhalla remake dosen’t work in Halo 5, It is too open with too many weapons that are effective beyond the BR’s range.

I think they shorted BTB to get people into warzone because that’s where the $$$ is.

The thing I always hated about old school BTB was that there were too many power weapons and vehicles giving people cheap and easy kills. I don’t even want to talk about Heavies. And while I admit that there are fewer vehicles kicking around now, it’s still too many in my opinion. Warzone is the place that manages to balance vehicular power with maps that are spacious enough to absorb them without allowing them to dominate. That’s how vehicles should work. I don’t miss them in BTB one bit. The fact that warzone vehciles don’t grow on trees is intentional so that the maps don’t become overrun by them (as they often do in turbo) and so that you will have an excuse, if you’re so inclined, to spend cash on them. If you’re reluctant to call them in because you’re afraid of burning through them faster than you earn them back… well, that’s the balance that’s built into the system.

BTB should be original maps not forge made ones by the community.

No, there used to be

Plus the plastic water

BTB needs an updated with new forge maps and so does the arena playlist. Recurve definitely needs an update and 343i needs to open up the forge canvas more and add new times of day to the canvases as well and new gamemodes.

At some point in development they made the decision to try to make WZ almost completely replace BTB. My guess is they saw BTB and Heavies were consistently the most popular playlists back in Halo 4 and decided to cash in on something that could improve both.

IMO they are doing a good job with replacing BTB Objective gametypes, but they need to add a WZ gametype that is Slayer only. Oh and more maps Bravo pls

Yup pretty much. When i first got this game all i did was play btb because i didnt try any other game types like warzone. But the maps got dull and its nothing like true btb. Id consider regular warzone minus bosses and bases to feeling more similar to BTB. Something they should fix but that is a long list of things. Right now they are too worried about trying to add new game modes/ more content so they can show off and show how much they are doing for halo. I know people hate hearing it but i agree stuff should have already been there.

I will be honest halo 5 btb isnt fun for me at all. The maps are too big, not enough close in battle

not anymore. they removed it

the thing I hate about the new valhalla is they removed all the powerfull vehicles but the banshee. couple that with it only be capture the flag an you got one broken map. one team loses banshee an spartan laser is lost in the chaos? instantly a Near impossible comeback. not even shooting banshee with sniper rifle helps because the banshee has a sheild that can take a sniper shot an keep up. so once on team has air superiority the other team is basicly trapped

big team battle was all about vehicles though. an I don’t care about WZ’s god awful pseudo balance. I don’t see why someone would play BTB an complain about vehicles. an vehicles never “grew on tree’s” because —> spawn times <— dunno why you think WZ “balances vehicular power” either you wanna see how weak an useless I can make a vehicle look If I’m inclined? let me take one of my 20 or so invisibility powerups an any tank wraith or mantis on the feild is a burning scrap heap. other vehicles on the other hand are totally OP banshee ultras completely rule the sky. they eat any phaeton (even helios) for breakfast. heck even a normal banshee wrecks a phaeton normal phaeton. it’d probably stand a chance against a helios too. the only “balanced” vehicles in WZ are ghosts an hogs an rocket hogs. gauss hogs are a little bit OP on certain maps (IE noctus where you can snipe enemy vehicles from just outside your home base sheild) what we need is for BTB to have more vehicle inclined maps like blood gulch an more vehicles (the orginal reason for BTB ya’ know? the vehicles!). the exact thing we have for WZ but way more casual… it sounds to me like you just don’t like BTB or casual halo in general. BTB is all about free kills in a vehicle an vehicular warfare. thats litteraly what it’s been for since it was introduced. so may I suggest ranked arena? because litteraly btb with any less vehicles is 8 man unranked slayer an thats not what BTB is supposed to be. it’s ok to be competitive but don’t try an ruin our casual modes by making them even more sweaty. we don’t wanna be L33t or L3g1t. we want to have casual halo back an make the rest of the community happy

I only play BTB

I find it the most fun game mode and I have no idea why they don’t improve it and add maps. It has every style of play you want, all the weaps you want and it has CTF!

-Add sudden death to CTF (COME ON! rly y’all forgot to put this in?)
-Let there be a chance for rare weaps to drop in place of the normal weaps.

for me its the opposite. i know im good with banshee. in warzone im guaranteed to get to use it as long as i got the req. in btb not only are the banshee maps super rare, but i have to compete against everyone else (teammates included) just to even get it
also no ultra or wheelman in btb

why not let rare weap and vehicle have a chance to spawn in BTB? design all these awesome weaps and then confine them to one specific game type that is only there to make $$? so blatantly rude
